Does anyone unicycle?

Used to, about 30 years ago. :rotfl: My brother was the true unicycler in our family, he could ride it for hours.

Do you need more balance than a 2 wheeler?

That is so weird that you asked. We were just at a state park on Sunday and there was a guy there that was on a unicycle. The guy just kept riding around & around the lake (which is about 3 miles). It must take a lot of balance and strength.

Yes, it does require one to be good at balancing. Which is why I sucked at it after I grew to my full height. Easier to balance when you are shorter to the ground. My brother was built sort of short and stocky, the perfect body type for the unicycle. I'll have to call him and ask him if ever still rides one, although at 40-something, its doubtful. :rotfl:

Our kids have a unit on unicycling in PE at their elementary school.

They run an after school unicycling club for about 6 weeks or so in the winter for kids that enjoy it. It is WAY harder than it looks!

BTW they also spend time on a juggling unit.

Gym is a lot more fun now than it was when we were kids!

My dh has always wanted to learn to ride a unicycle. He swears he's gonna buy one one of these days.

I had one when I was younger. No matter how hard I tried, I NEVER could ride that darned thing!

DS (11) does and has almost mastered the 5 foot unicycle, too. He performs in our local, amateur circus and learned the skills there.

He also juggles while riding it.

If you are trying to learn, were long pants! Road rash does not help your skill level!

I can ride THREE of them at once. Kinda. :jester:

Use to a long time ago.

Had bike shop and started to ride 24" wheel Schwinn.

Went out back in parking lot and climbed up on Ford truck we had and mounted the 6' Schwinn and started riding it. Really cool and the greatest thing was when I started to fall it was like Chaplin coming down on a ladder. Slow motion fall.

Brings back good memories. Thanks for the post.

Does anyone unicycle?

On purpose?

Actually, I never have but our elementary school has an after school program that teaches unicycling and the kids just love it!

My 11yo DS does and he is pretty good at it now! It took a little while to get it and now he can go anywhere!
