Does anyone stockpile/purchase in advance multiple tickets?

Obviously the best way to lock in ticket savings is to buy a lifetime's supply now of non-expiring tickets at today's prices. However, many people logically do not want to lock in tens of thousands of dollars in ticket costs.

With the release of the AP discounts I was trying to figure out whether it was cheaper to get an AP and use that versus our 10 day non-exp. park hoppers... we have two park days scheduled for our trip in 2 weeks, we will probably do two more in May over Memorial Day weekend, and then we are traveling with family in early January--I can see us doing 2-4 days depending on how much they want to do. That is an estimated 7 park days in a yr: $69 a day, which doesn't seem like a significant savings to me versus our 10 day no exp. PH - which breaks out to $75 a day, not including the waterpark options. In order to realize that $6 savings per day (so $60 total per ticket) we'd have to outlay another $968 (our daughters won't be 3 till Fall of 2015).

We could do that, but my DH will take convincing. For that matter, it would probably save us money to purchase a few more 10 day no exp PHs at today's prices, but again, at a large cash flow dip, and banking on an uncertain future. Of course, joining DVC itself banks on an uncertain future, but probably a line has to be drawn somewhere.

So I am wondering how many people employ a 'buy extra tickets ahead to save money" strategy, and if so, how many you keep in your inventory; or any arguments against purchasing multiple years worth.

We have at least 10 years worth of admission media, AP certificates, 10 day non expiring hoppers and non hoppers. I buy all of our tickets from UCT using the mouse saver discount.

Non-expiring tickets really only make sense if you are getting 3 or more years out of one ticket.

I don't stock-pile tickets, but I am contemplating AP's and staggering our annual trips (again) so we get two trips out of one pass. That is cheaper than buying two MYW (5-day) tickets per person. The only risk is not being able to take the 2nd trip within a year.

The other thing I'm contemplating doing is buying the AP's this year before a price increase, knowing that it is unknown when we can go again. (We're in the middle of caring for my mother, and can't go again until that's no longer the case.)

The new AP offers won't do us any good. We don't do water parks or any of the other perks.

All that said, last year we gave MYW tickets to our adult kids as birthday presents. I may contemplate doing that...but they won't be going for a while, and that could be quite an outlay of cash to sit in a "holding pattern" when it could be used for something else.

I want to but I'm scared about losing them. I guess I could just keep them in my safe. I have actually gone to UT a few times and loaded up the cart and then decided to wait. I know a 10 day non-expiring pass is cheaper than (2) 5 day passes so that's my plan for most trips. This year we were already planning on getting the PAP for myself, DH and our 3 year old (our youngest will still be free woohoo!) since we are going for a week in December, a week in March and F&W for DH & I so the additional $100 off is awesome.

We have three APs that we bought two years ago. Then they offered the $399 PAP, so we bought those and used them instead. I'm still weighing my decision to use the ones be bought two years ago.

You should recheck the prices listed on UT. Currently a 5-day MYW is $290.95 and a 10-day non-exp. is $678.95. ;)

Non-expiring adds a lot to the cost. It used added about $50 a couple of years ago until Disney got smart.

I did just look at them again, maybe I was originally comparing Disney prices for 5 day passes to the UT 10 day no expiration. I guess I should have specified that we would do the park hopper option. And maybe even one set of water park ones so we can slowly use the 10 visits.

We are looking at:

$349.95 for regular 5 day park hoppers ($699.90 for 2)
$723.95 for 10 day no expiration park hoppers
$737.95 for 10 day no expiration park hoppers with 10 fun visits

I guess there is still a $24 difference between the 5 day and the cheaper 10 day option but if you are planning to protect against price increases or just want to pop in for a few days of F&W I still feel the 10 day no expiration is the way to go.

I only keep 3 things in my safe: Gold, Silver, and Disney tickets.
Only one of these has gone up EVERY year and NEVER gone done.

I usually buy 4 park hopers just before each price increase (been doing since 10 day - nonexpiring - hopers were $330). Now just buy the 6 day hopers but have enough to last me until my Boardwalk points expire.

I have 10 seven day MYW tickets and 8 non-expiring 10 day tickets with water parks and more (4 of the tickets are hoppers, 4 are non-hoppers). We also have a few water park days left on some really old tickets. I purchased these tickets about 5 years ago, but haven't used any because we have been purchasing annual passes since joining DVC. I think we are finally going to use some of the 7 day tickets in March, and then upgrade them to annual passes during our trip.

It is nice knowing that we have the extra tickets, but that is alot of money that is sitting in my safe in Disney tickets :)

when I have extra cash on hand I purchase WDW UT tickets and stockpile them. when it comes time to cash them in I use one day & upgrade (at current value - oh, how I'd hate to see that accommodation vanish) to whatever pricier ticket I want.

We also have several different leftover non-expiring tix that have a day or two on them. Said tix were bought before the big jump in the pricing.

Currently, we have an AP voucher pre the last 'special' AP deal and a 5 day PH which will hopefully cover most of a future AP via DVC discount.

The 'real' deal was buying AAA 7 day, 2 park, Universal tickets years ago @ approximately $65 per. Purchased 5, still have 1 left.;) only issue there is they don't bridge the price toward AP purchases.

I believe Disney got rid of the no expire option on current ticket sales. they will still honor those bought previously, but I don't think you can get it on new tickets

Disney makes more money on expired tickets so being Disney, step one was to remove non expire tickets from online Disney sales. You can still buy them onsite which makes them seem less greedy.

I expect that they will completely stop non expire sales in the future.

You can still find non expiring tickets on undercover tourist in addition to at the parks!

this was a rumor. it is not true.

Like a few others, I have years of tickets stockpiled because the return on Disney increasing prices has beaten any other investments I have over the years. Buti also bought the AP special last year because our was such a good deal.

I have a variety of 10 day non expiring and 5 day expiring tickets. If we're taking a longer trip and know we'll do at least 5 days in the parks we'll use a5 day non expiring and then any other days off of a10 day non expiring.

We have a few spare tickets around, including a couple of AP vouchers we received for an add on a few years ago.

You can call in to get them, purchase them onsite or order thru UCT.

The response I heard Disney give for them not being on the website is that too many people were confused by them.
