Does anyone remember this ride from Epcot?

I'm thinking it was Horizons. It also had a smell of oranges in one place and you were in a moving, hanging car that at the end allowed you to make one of three choices. It was a favorite of mine until it closed.

Too many times to list as a kid
Once I “grew” up:
1997 Fort Wilderness (summer); Coronado Springs Christmas
1999 Wilderness Lodge (Spring); Fort Wilderness Christmas/New Years
2002 Polynesian
2003 Caribbean Beach
2004 Took a break after having a baby
2005 Going to Port Orleans Riverside
2006 Back to Poly!!!

I have a DVD of the complete Horizons ride, also the original imagination ride, the original spaceship earth, and many others. Keeps the memories alive. If anyone is interested in where you can get them (along with many others) just send me a PM.

Ah yes, the DNA strand I was referring to was the one in the movie during Horizons. Thanks!

Does any one remember where you used to be able to pick up these telephones and talk to the robot in the center of the room, I think it was somewhere called comunicore???, it was where there was a attraction about communication with a lady and a robot named EO I think??? Any one know what this was?

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I remember something exactly like that back that during my first trip at 15. You could pick up a phone, and speak to a guy who was on a screen, in some kind of faux command room. He could see you via camera as well. Now that I think back on it, I just remembered that the middle aged guy on the screen was was hitting on the two friends I was with  No mistaking our age, we were wearing our High School T-shirts! Holy cow, back then I remember us giggling about it. Now that I'm older, I recognize how creepy that is. :crazy2:

Does anyone remember the robot they had that would draw your picture? Two stations, you sat in a chair in front of a camera that plotted your face on a computer screen, after which a robot arm drew your portrait in ink? And get this...it was FREE? (now you KNOW that was a LONG time ago! :rotfl2: ) I still have mine...boy were my bangs HUGE. :rotfl:

There is a picture of the
robot you could talk to and some of the displays from the Communicores on this site.

The show you are talking about was called Backstage Magic and it showed how computers were used to run everything at Epcot. At one point, a wall was opened, letting you look thru a large glass window into the computer control room for Epcot. I don't remember the lady host's name, but she was a hologram of a WDW CM who told how computers work, along with her assistance IO (for Intake and Output).
Yeah, thats it!!! Thanks WOW I have to dig out the videos my dad took and watch them again!

Thinking back to when Epcot was EPCOT does any one have a pic of Dreamfinder, before they redid the Figment ride, I remember Dreamfinder walking around carrying Figment in his arms, from the recent pics I've seen of Figgy hes really grown!!

I found Him! Here he is!

I haven't riden Soarin' yet, but haven't they brought back Horizon's trademark orange smell as you fly over the California orange groves?

Yes they have. It smells wonderful but I have never riden Horizons so I don't know if it compares.

It's funny, but in the UOG from 1999, Horizons was rated as "Not to be missed". It made me start to really question why they closed the original when so many of us really enjoyed it. Anyone else wonder why it was updated before other EPCOT attractions?

wow! i had been wondering myself what it was i was remembering from my first trip to disney world... it was that ride! what a bummer. i was hoping to see it again.

If it was 13 years ago it was Horizons! Which is now Mission: Space. I miss Horizons. And can't use Mission: Space!! And, YES, Soarin' does bring back the orange smell!

I have that CD you mention--also has several other musical selections that you can never hear again IN the parks--like Tomorrow's Child, Magic Journey's, and the original COP music.
Guess we old timers are left only with memories--and this music!!

No. I rode Soarin' 3 times in FL this past June. There were no orange groves - you went over the Napa wine country.

What you do smell is the California forests (pine), I think during the skiing segment.

Are you talking about a CD or DVD? I have DVD's with the complete ride video, not just the music. I also have the older CD's and audiotapes from the parks and rides.
If anyone is interested in getting an extinct ride video, send me a PM for info.

Yes there are orange groves and yes there is a smell of oranges. I have never smelt the pine though.
