I remember when we drove to Disney there would be signs for this AM radio station. The station would have info about the parks, and people would sing "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD, GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" It was like the ultimate hype-up radio station and I remember loving it as a kid.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about...and does it still exist??

Yes I remember what you are talking about, but no, I don't know if it's still there or not. Honestly the last couple times I drove into WDW I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the signs since I knew how to get where I was going and was showing some of the sights out to my friends in the car.

i know that some of Martin's ultimate tributes you can hear snippets of the radio station playing in the car.

What you're referring to was called DISNEY RADIO and it was low-power station KA2XXZ licensed to Columbia, Florida near Lake City. The range of the station was only about 15 miles although it often carried farther. It advertised via southbound only billboards along I-75 and operated at 107.5 on your FM dial.

It's main purpose was to get travelers to stop at the Disney Information Center in Ocala where they could feel the magic of Disney and book rooms at Disney resorts as well as buy multi-day passes. The station played a half-hour cycle of reporter interviews with Disney characters talking about the latest happenings at the 3 Disney theme parks. There were Disney commercials between segments along with an Alan Archer weather report. "No matter what the weather outside, it's always a beautiful day at Disney World."

It's been off the air for a long time and the Disney Information Center in Ocala is long-closed as well.

I kind of remember this as well (as well as loving to stop at that information center on the way to the world), but I there was also the AM station that played when you were actually in the world. Among other things, that AM station would give you the actual park hours for the different parks for that day.

I know the exact station you are talking about and when my family and I would drive down along I-75 we would listen to it, although it's been gone for a long time and that includes the billboards. However since it advertised the Disney Welcome Center in Ocala and because that's also gone I guess they had no reason to keep it on the air.
