hey all,

does anyone miss the sunwheel. i do it was one of my fav rides and it saddens me that its closed so they can rename it and paint it.

also does anyone feel sad for the maliboomer its a ride that serves its self well, but now its going however in the blue sky gallery they have artwork that shows something replacing it, i had not heard of it.

i have seen a picture, but can not locate it atm. so yes or no for the sunwheel.. speak up people

I am indifferent to the sunwheel sorry! I went on it once and was done, but I am not a huge fan of heights.

I have to say I am actually more sad about the removal of the un-hidden hidden Mickey going away from Scream'n then the rethemeing of the Sun Wheel.

I hope they wait to take out the mailboomer until I can get in one more ride! I will miss this little ride, though I know I am in the minority on this one.

I might miss the sun face a little, but it will still be the same ride - only it will now be titled "The Spinning Mickey Wheel of Death"!!! :rotfl2:
I actually don't mind the stationary gondolas, but never in a million years will you catch me on the sliding ones!!!!

I can definitely do without the Maliboomer. We both never wanted to even set foot on that thing....

::yes:: what she said.

I for one will miss the Golden Sun face very much. My grandmother collected Suns from all over the world. She was an avid Disneyland passholder that would go and sit on Main st. for the afternoon just to people watch. She loved to treat us to lunch at the French Marketplace. She was always interested in the aviation history of the Soarin area. She was terrified of heights and would not go on the Sun Wheel but she adored the face of it. The last time My children saw her alive was at Disneyland two months before she suddenly passed away from brain cancer two years ago.

IMO I think it is a ridiculous, unnecessary and inconsequential change to the wheel that does not in anyway other than aesthetically change the ride. It has no function and I have no idea how moving one mickey head over to the wheel is going to bring in more guests. In fact if they had thought further about the world of color show I think the reflective beauty of the sun face would have been an amazing back drop for the show.

This picture I took of the Sun Wheel last fall after hearing of the loss. It's only with my phone but, even so you can see how amazing it was.

I never rode the sunwheel...never cared to. But I thought the sun was cute. And the concept art of what the Mickey face on the wheel is going to look like seems kind of cheesy.

I'm sad about the mickey on screamin' being gone.

I don't really care much about the maliboomer. Never rode it. and it wasn't that cute to look at.

At first I was sad that they were getting rid of the orange. But when I saw the concept art for the new swings in it's place...it looks really cute.

Overall, I'm excited about all the updates and retheming. But I am not a fan of the new entrances. Too much like MGM (my least favorite Disney park.)

I had a nightmare about the Wheel of Death last night. I don't know why I decided to dream about it last night, but I did. I think they should've kept the sun though. They're trying too hard to turn DCA into Disneyland.

Nope, not me. I don't like it as the Sun Wheel, I won't like it as Mickey's Fun Wheel. I've ridden it twice, that's 2 times too many for me. I will only ride the stationary carts and I only ride it if my kids BEG me to do it.

As for the Maliboomer, that's another one I won't do but DBF and DD9 love it so I wish that they would keep it for them. :)

I rode the Sun Wheel once it absolutely terrified me! I will not be getting on ever again. I did like the sun image more than the Mickey head though.

I do not like this ride at all. I've ridden it twice - once in the stationary cars and once in the swinging cars. Besides trying to stay in my seat and not barf, we had to sit opposite a couple making out like bunnies in the seats across from us (me and my DS12 (at the time)). It was terrible! Can't look straight ahead or you get more of an eyeful that you ever wanted to on a Disney ride. Can't look down or you might barf....... Not fun :sad2:

:scared: Well I am very indifferent to any wheel ride as they scare me to death so I dont like the ride much. Although its going to be strange seeing the decor on it change. I am so accustomed to DCA the way it is now that all the referbs are going to be very foreign but kinda exciting all at the same time.

Hey but here is a thought for you.... Disneyland is over 50 years old. Most of us Disboarders were not there on opening day. DCA though is a newer park, and in 50 years from now, hopefully we can all say "Hey remember 50 years ago when DCA's wheel was this color and didnt have a Mickey face on it?". Our kids and grand kids will be like "WOAH WHAT DID IT ORIGINALLY LOOK LIKE?". Its strange to think that all the pictures we are taking now will one day be considered "The good ol' days"

I miss my happy sun!!! I was so sad when the face was finally taken down and I literally yelled in sadness. Hopefully no one was looking at me and thought I was nuts. He always made everyday bright and sunny! :goodvibes

see i will miss the theming of the wheel i really dont think it will change at all.. will just be different. i cant believe though how many people are like sad at the wheel.. its a giant ferris wheel.. they are not scary.

i also dont want them to take away the maliboomer it was like one of 4 or 5 thrill type rides at DCA. (tower of terror, cali screamin', grizley river run, maliboomer and soarin(if u think of it as a thrill)).

i really want to see whay they are replacing mali with, i have seen a picture of something going there, but i cant think what it was...

I actually got engaged on the sunwheel  My husband dragged me over there and wanted to ride the stationary gondola- I am a risk taker and love the swinging ones so I was disappointed, haha. But he proposed right at the top when the Christmas lights were all turned on in the park. :lovestruc

Aww now I am sad that we didn't get a really nice picture taken in front of it, it was never my most favorite ride, but it now has a very special memory for us. And yikes I don't want them to take the Mickey off of Screamin!!!:scared1:

Ehhh, not so much. I hate the swinging death cars. The stationary ones are fine I guess. The new Mickey face will be cute I'm sure though!

I think that the Sun Wheel is the scariest ride at DCA...we rode the swinging gondolas once and it scared the daylights out of us. To this day, whenever I see the pictures of us after riding that ride, I crack up because we all look sick and scared. But, it's a fun memory...now we only ride the non-swinging gondolas.

Eh, the Sun Wheel is okay. I can take it or leave it. We (my family) happen to like riding the swinging gondolas because it gives the ride a bit of funness so it's not so boring.

I don't get the whole face change thing on the Sun Wheel though. Seems like such a waste of money and man hours to give a fairly lame ride like the Sun Wheel a rather pointless face lift. I'm sure the money could've been spent on something much more purposeful than a face change. I mean.....c'mon! It reminds me of the Wall Street banker dude who spent something like $1.5 million redoing his office. It leaves you just scratching your head, thinking of all that being money spent on something so dumb, and you ask yourself, "Seriously?!! Why?!!". And especially during a time when they're handing out pink slips to cut costs. Kinda ticks me off.

Maliboomer - None of us ever rode it, so we won't be sad to see it go.

I LOVE the maliboomer!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I am sad it may be on the chopping block but until they take it down I will hold out hope! I am not sad they are repainting the sun wheel as red is my favorite color and like nancy said it'll still be the same ride so no biggie. Will be weird looking at screamin without those blue glowing ears though. Ah well.
