Does anyone like the BWI??

We were there last December and loved it. We had a corner room that overlooked a courtyard area. The bakery was a good spot for breakfast. Location was our main reason and it was so nice to walk to EPCOT. It sounds like you got a good deal - price wise.

I love the Boardwalk! Beautiful hotel, great location, fabulous dining choices. However...the scary clown pool :lmao: !

Happy Birthday! I will be 35 on July 1. :goodvibes

Thanks! And Happy Birthday to you too! :goodvibes

I didn't like BWI, but that's my opinion. The only thing I liked about it was the fact you could walk to EPCOT. I'd much rather stay at the WL if I had the choice.

I've got to say that the BWI is my family's favorite resort. We love it there. The rooms are so pretty and spacious. Every picture I've seen is just the way the rooms really are. No worries for you there. The lobby is grand with lots of pretty seating areas and models of old time carousels and roller coasters. Looks like something from the Great Gatsby movie.

A standard view room often gets you a beautiful view of the courtyard garden, with the winding walkways and the flowering trees. Some of the higher rooms facing Epcot can see some of the fireworks.

There is no food court which we do not like either, but there is the Bellevue Lounge in the am. From 6:30am - 10am they sell a la carte breakfast items, like coffee, tea, juice, muffins, croissants, yogurt, cold cereal, and fruit. Then it reopens at 5pm for real lounge drinks. (no food then) Or you can order room service, and then there will be no walking down to the Boardwalk to fetch your breakfast! We get room service at least once on every trip.

The Boardwalk area itself is great! Plenty of restaurants to choose from. My boys love, love, love ESPN! Food is good and there are sports playing on what seems like 100's of tv's simultaneously. Sometimes on Friday night you can catch the little tv interview show they put out from ESPN for the resort tv and see a sports star. Entertainers are strolling around in the evenings doing renditions of old time entertainment. There are surrey bikes to rent and ride around Crescent lake. The walk to Epcot is only 5 minutes or so. The walk to MGM is about 20 minutes. Or take a Friendship boat - very relaxing little ride that will cross the lake for you if you don't want to walk or take you to Epcot or MGM.

The Luna Park pool is lots of fun. The Keister Coaster slide is 200 ft. long! Pretty good slide for a resort hotel. Although clowns aren't my favorite, the clown at this pool doesn't scare me. And there is only the one clown face at the slide exit, not clowns everywhere. There is a cute pool bar called Leaping Horse Libations that looks like a carousel. They offer the standard pina coladas, beers, etc and also some sandwiches and snacks. We ate a bite here a few times.

The BWI has an understated elegance and relaxed old time Jersey Boardwalk feel. Everytime we stay somewhere else, we always find ourselves missing the BWI and if we dare go visit it while on our trip, we get sad. That's how I know its our favorite. No matter how nice other places are, and we do love other resorts, the BWI feels like home to us. I hope you love it!

I love the BWI and it is one of my favorites!! I think it is a lovely resort and I like the way it is furnished. It is conveniently located between two parks and you can't beat that. The pool is lots of fun too. We love it!

Thanks everyone for all the great info and advice! I think I will stick with the BWI. We want to try each resort at least once and we've stayed at almost all of them except BWI and Beach Club, so why not! :thumbsup2 I can't wait... we are leaving in two days.....Any advice on a good standard view room? Can you see the fireworks from any of the standard views? Thanks for all the birthday wishes....the closer I get to 40, the more I hate celebrating birthdays so it makes it much easier to deal with being at my most favorite place in the whole world... disney world. I will let everyone know how it goes when I get back next week! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday (and to all the other July 1 babies out there...I will be celebrating 40 years on that day too...unfortunately NOT in Disney  )

My DH and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the BWI!

We were married there in September and it was just so wonderful. Classy and elegant, with a relaxed charm and "fun" atmosphere. We loved it so much we are counting down the days 'til we can buy DVC there. Of course, we've never really stayed anywhere else so our opinion might not count for much.

We didn't have any complaints about the food issues. I didn't think that any of the restaurants on the boardwalk were too far for a quick bite. Spoodles, ESPN, even the Bakery...lots of options. Or, heck, you are almost close enough to walk over to World Showcase for a quick bite! :)

I hope you enjoy your birthday stay! Blow a candle out for me! :teeth:

Oh, it's just horrible! Stay anywhere else!

(Ok, just kidding, but we can't let the BWI secret out. ;) It is a small resort and we can't have all the rooms taken when we need to book. :teeth: )

Funny, that was my experience with the GF and I haven't returned since. It's funny how one bad experience will keep us away from a resort.

Yes - we had the same feeling at GF and will never be back. That is funny!

OP - I don't think you can go wrong at either resort. We are staying at BWI for the first time in August, so if you stick with your ressie, I'll be waiting for your review!

Happy Birthday to you!
