Does anyone know what really goes on at Disney's First Right of Refusal?

Just curious. I know there is a board of some kind. Do they look at contracts and run numbers to see if it's worth buying back? Do these people make the final decision or do they have to get approval from someone else to buy back or not ? Does anybody know how it works?

Only a guess but based on what we have heard on these boards, I would speculate that a lot of coin flipping takes place. Heads we take it, tails we don't.

Wouldn't a lot of it have to do with how many people are waitlisted for points that fit the profile of the resale? If DVC can pick-up 300 BCV points at $70 each and immediately resell to one person who is waitlisted for 300 in same use year at $85, why wouldn't they do it?

When a contract is sold, there may not be any points left in the contract for the current and following year, which makes the contract very unattractive for everyone concerned. I bought a contract, which was a steal to me, but it had absolutely no points with it, so I paid for 1 1/2 years before I got points. I couldn't have used the points anyway, so I bought it because it was cheap. I assume DVC let it go so low due to the lack of points available.

None of us know for certain. It does seem like smoke and mirrors at times. I'm sure they make no profit when buying at $70 pp and resale at $84 though just satisfying the add on market might be a good incentive for them. I do think they crunch numbes but there are obviously other factors. Remember, their main goal is to keep the resale prices high with little enough difference between those and restail so as to not make retail majorly unattractive. If they do it haphazardly with no rhyme or reason, that likely serves their goals the best. Think of it like poker where they hold all the cards but must decide whether to play each hand or not.

I was told that its about customer service for current members. If a contract comes through and someone is waiting to add on at that resort with the use year, AND they wont loose any money on it, they will take it.
