Does anyone know the price of the Dining Plan for DVCers?

While "the Plan" includes tax when you use it, we probably won't know "for sure" if sales tax is charged on the $37.99 when you pay for it at check-in until someone actually does use it in April. My guess is no tax...but we really can't be sure. It depends on FL tax laws.

Has anyone actually called and asked MS about the tax issue?

I can't seem to open the file from the member website of the listing of names for the restaurants available for Dining. Can anyone post them here-I am really interested in the ones at DVC resorts and Boardwalk.

Every TS Disney Restaurant is available to my knowledge, except V and A and the Most Expensive French Restaurant. Wolfgang Pucks and Planet Hollywood are also eligible, but certain things have a surcharge. Some like Flying FIsh, Jiko, CRT, Shows, etc are 2 meals. The file is a PDF file, so check your Acrobat Reader. Also, you can right click on the link and choose save as and that will save the PDF file to your PC.

Am I correct that this is only available for stays after April 1, 2006?

Yes, that is correct. You may make the reservation now, but the stay must begin on or after 4/1/2006.

Best wishes -

I just called MS yesterday and booked by Dining Plan package - $956.?? for 11 nights, 2 adults, 1 child. Basically the problem with the tax issue is that whenever anyone asks, they assume you are talking about tax on your meal and not tax on the actual Dining Plan - I'm talking about CMs as well as posters on these boards. I asked again yesterday and she confused the two as well, but when she gave me my total, she said that this was the entire total and only this total will be charged to my VISA at check-in and it is just $37.99 x 2 x 11 days and $10.99 x 11 days.

It was very easy to add the Dining Plan by the way, but she did have issues with making my ADRs, so she just connected me to Disney Dining and I was able to get all ADRs for my trip in July!

Thanks everyone for this great info. We are going to BCV with my parents in July; staying in 2 studios. This will be a perfect time to try the dining plan. We are thinking we'll get it for my Mom and Dad -- who love appetizers at meals -- and see how it goes, with my family of 4 using the DDE card. If two of us get appetizers and desserts and 6 of us are sharing those "extras" we should do fine! :)

When I called to add the DP yesterday, I was told the exact same thing. So, there wasn't more money added on to the $37.99 or $10.99. With all other meals that require a credit card deposit or payment up front they include taxes so (JIMHO) I doubt if it will be added in.

I have two questions:

1) Since you don't pay until Check-in can you use your Disney Reward Dollars you have earned from your Disney Visa to help pay for the DDP?

2) We have friends meeting us at WDW and staying off site so obviously they won't have the plan... BUT they will be eating meals with us pretty much all the time. Is this going to cause a problem because Obviously with my DW and I getting the DDP there will be 2 Appetizers and 2 deserts that we would naturally share with our friends. Is this possible, I mean will they let 2 DDP and 2 Non-DDP eat at the same table?

I am wondering that also. We often meet w/ my mom or others who may not be on property, can we use the DDP to eat?

Should not be a problem according to their own rules. You can share meals with people DDP or not... The line from Disney is... "Yes you can share meals, but you have to buy DP for EVERYONE staying in your room." If you or they have an AP, consider getting DDE as well, then their meals and any alcohol will be 20% off. We are doing that on next trip... DDE + DP = 5-10 Extra Pounds of Fun and Happiness ;-) Should not be a problem for you at all... you can purchase anything OOP with the DP. Just let them know at the start of the meal... We ordered a Cheese Plate OOP at California Grill with Wine. We actually lucked out because they threw the Cheese Plate into the DP, even though they weren't supposed too since we already had Sushi as an appetizer.

No idea about DIsney Rewards. I would think you could, but I would call MS to be sure.

You can. You could even use your credits to buy them a meal as I understand it. But you can't buy them a plan of their own, unless you say they are staying with you.

BTW thanks for your response to my original question.... One more for ya!

If my DW and I went to say Chef De France for Lunch or Dinner (or both) would we be allowed to share a meal with just each other... I.e. only using one TS per meal between the two of us? The receiving 1 Appitizer 1 Entree AND 1 Desert would fill us both up instead of both getting each of the three.

Yes you can. Basically it boils down to that you are going to get charged for everyone staying in your room. How you use the meals is up to you. You can share at any restaurant (we ate at Le Chefs last time... I was a little disappointed to be honest... They really undercooked the meat. I asked for medium (a reasonable request) and they served it rare... I had to send it back. I enjoyed Cali Grill much more... but I would give Le CHefs another chance) except Buffets to my understanding. So if you wanted you can share a meal for Lunch and dinner and use CS meals for Breakfast.

As far as the Disney Rewards card, I believe there is no problem using it to pay for anything! When you call to get your rewards, you get a card that is then used like a credit card. I used mine to pay off a chunk of my room bill and then used my Disney Visa to pay the rest. This was no problem!

From what I have been reading on these Boards since the dining plan started, most agree that the best part is the flexibility. People also typically report that the servers are great in helping diners to get the best value out of their credits. The only thing extra I would remember if DH and I shared a meal was that the waiter would deserve "extra" tip and I would leave cash on top of the percent that was included with the meal plan. :)

I agree with you about the extra tip for good service... But remember, given that they AUTOMATICALLY get 15% of the final bill wiht the meal plan, it is obviously in their best interest to get you the most value... the more expensive the dish you order the more the guarenteed tip for them.
