Does anyone here sell kids clothes on ebay or craigslist?

I'm new to ebay selling. What is the best way to figure out how much shipping will be?

TIA!!!

You need to get a postal scale and weigh your items in each mailing package. Then go to the USPS shipping calculator page to get an estimate of what it will cost. Always ship priority mail with delivery confirmation (you can get delivery confirmation for free if you pay with paypal and print your shipping label online and tape it to the package yourself. Google "ship now paypal" and you'll get the link. You have to log into paypal and then the shipping page will come up. You won't have to wait in line at the post office when you pay and print for your shipping at home.

I used to add a few extra bucks on top of my estimate so I was covered no matter what zone the item was shipped to. I did not ship international as it was too much of a headache. Maybe it's easier now.

I take all ourstuff to a local kids consignment shop. No work for me, I get 50ish%. I've made $400 this year.

When putting up your item, choose "calculated" shipping. You can pick 1-2 pounds, 2-3 pounds etc. The site will calculate the shipping from your zip code to the buyer's zip code.

I've been doing it so long I know what everything weighs! I do own a scale JUST IN CASE, though! :thumbsup2

Never lose money due to shipping. Always make sure your buyer pays for it. The fees will cut into your profit as it is, guessing about shipping can sometimes eliminate any profit at all.

Good luck. I wish I had more advice when I started!

We started selling our girls dresses on Ebay. They wear them once to a party or event and then they sit. They say they are mortified if they are caught wearing it to another party where their friends can see. As parents we are all suckers. Cheap way to get a good cheap item sometimes. Been doing well selling the dresses.

When you calculate shipping to post on your auction, make sure you calculate it based on a destination that is far from you, in a different zone. For instance, I live in Montana and it costs more to ship from MT to Florida then it does to Washington state. I always base by shipping rate on the most expensive place I might ship to. You never know where the person the wins the auction will be living in the US. The only other way to get around this is to use Priority Flat Rate boxes but if you send it regular Priority Mail, the rate will vary based upon the destination.
