Does anyone have or know where there is a picture of the Castle when it was a cake?

I keep hearing about how awful it was when the Castle at WDW was turned into a birthday cake. I read yesterday that over 200 weddings were cancelled because it looked so ugly couples didn't want it in their pictures. I've never seen it as a cake and would love to. So if you know where I can see a pic can you please direct me? Thanks! :flower:

THAT'S HORRIBLE! :earseek: Phew, glad I missed that! Oy! Ewwww. WHAT where they thinking? Geez.

Thanks Hakim! :flower:

Here was another one I found with a side by side comparision... It was definetly a shock to see, but having to be around it all day (I worked at MK at the time) it did grow on me, although I would NOT want it in my wedding pictures... Personally I love the way the castle looks right now for the 50 year celebration...Wish they would leave it the way it is right now :)

Okay, that is ugly. :rotfl: However, I can't imagine cancelling your wedding just because a photo backdrop wasn't what you wanted. I mean, really.

Just think of the poor people who's one and only trip to Disney World that they saved a lifetime for was when the castle was a CAKE!!! And such a "lovely" cake it was too.!!!! :rotfl2:

I love it the way it is now too! I too wish they'd leave it.

And yes I think cancelling your wedding because of the castle was a bit much. There are so many other places to have beautiful pictures taken. But then again...ever see the show "Bridezilla"?

Thanks for the pictures, Rouge. :wave2:

thanks Honeibee.... now i have to burn that out of my memory again....

5 years later lol

:) :goodvibes

Maybe (well, I KNOW I AM) I'm in the minority here, but I liked it when it was a cake. It was the very first time my dh had been to WDW and we took the ferry over and saw it. I thought it was kind of neat. I like it the way it is now too.

My profuse apologies, Sven. ;)

The one and only time I, DH and 3 DD's went to WDW was when the castle was a cake. We were so happy to be there we thought it was wonderful! My DH and I will be going back alone in February for our 25th anniversary and it is decorated again! I guess we celebrate every time WDW does!! :wizard:

No, I also like the castle as the cake. It was fun and very disney I thought.
I did visit that year only for a day trip! I also loved the look of the castle this year! I LOVE THE CASTLE PERIOD...anyway it looks! :goodvibes

Oh BOY! When I heard that it was decorated as a cake, I was picturing something more 'wedding cake' kinda, classier. THAT looked like an overgrown children's birthday cupcake!

I DO like how the castle looks now with the gold accents, althought the mirror thing can go.

A friend of mine has only been to WDW once, and it was when the cake castle was up. If you ever ask her about WDW, the first thing out of her mouth is something along the lines of "I couldn't wait to get there to see the castle, and then when I did it was a big stupid cake! It was the most disappointing thing ever!"

I have a love/hate thing with the mirror. Sometimes I think it's okay, other times I think it's awful. :confused3

I remember our visit when it was a cake. My first thought was, "That could be the ugliest thing I have ever seen"

That's right out of Candy land. I wouldn't want that in my wedding photos.

Yea, we remember the "pepto bismol" castle. :teeth:

We liked the Pepto cake. Thought it was very appropriate considering what they were celebrating. :)
The next year the castle looked kind of blah in comparison.
Can't wait to see it this year.
