Does anyone have experience with "linking" reservations?

We would like to add one day to an existing reservation and would need to rent points from another DVC member to do so. If another member makes the reservation for the new day, how do we "link" it to our existing reservation and keep the expanded reservation under our name?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, I do. If it's all through MS and the reservations are linked, it's treated as one reservation. It can be points from different contracts, different owners (like when renting) and/or member cash discounts and it all ends up being one reservation. You can even rent from multiple people and link them.

But if it is a CRO reservation and a points reservation, they cannot link them. They can note on the DVC reservation that you have a CRO reservation if you give them the confirmation number. We just did this for our June trip.

Thanks Dean. I'm still wondering who would have control of the reservation (e.g. be able to make modifications to it) ... me, or the person I rented the extra day from?

Thanks again!

If the points you rent from another member are transferred into your acct. then you control the ressie. If on the other hand you rent the points and have the member you rent from make the ressie for you (meaning no transfer of points ~ they make the ressie in your name under their acct.) then the other member will still have control of the ressie. Either way though, as long as the nights are all booked through MS (either with another members points or with the member discount paying cash) you can have the ressies all linked together and it will be like one long ressie.

The only way they can't link them is if you have ressie's through both MS and CRO since they are 2 different systems.

HTH's :wave2:

invalid_char, the correct answer is you both are in control! The other member controls that one night, and you control the other nights you originally booked. Be careful that when you make any modifications to a linked reservation, often times MS will have to "unlink" them, make the changes, and then "relink" the reservations. Always make sure to double check that the reservations are indeed linked before you hang up the phone.
