Does anyone have an AWESOME guide?

We have Diane Cisek (I think that is the spelling). We just bought in but she has been great- she immediately returned calls and she called the other day just to make sure I remembered to bank my points. She made the whole experience quick, painless and positive! I would highly recommend.

It's good to read of so many great Guides! This gives lots of names to reference to family and friends regarding who is a good choice when making an appointment to tour. Thanks! =)

Just like with any business, the folks who work there are motivated for different reasons. Our experience with our original guide was not pleasant, for many reasons. There were broken promises and frustrations. The whole situation with her felt more like your standard "only out for the sale" timeshare purchase rather than a Disney experience... and that was unfortunate. Luckily, Disney does care that your experience is positive. If you truly are having difficulties with your guide, they will provide you with a new one. =)

I actually called QA one day and asked if I could get a new guide since my guide was not getting back to me, I was put on hold and the next thing I know I am on the phone with my guide????? Got what we needed done but it should not be that way. I was told on this forum that a guide is there to "sell" you the product just like a car sales man. The difference is I bought 3 contracts thru dvc in 3 months and got no customer service. If I bought 3 cars from a car sales man and called you can bet they would call me back!

Okay after 3 calls requesting help with a ressie (he told me he would help me with a ressie and he has his own MS in his office) I finally got a call back short and sweet, he help me out getting me what I needed, I guess now he has fulfilled his "duty" I do not see calling him again even if I want to add on.
Anyway looking forward to a wonderful experience with dvc, vacations is what it is all about!

I agree it should not be that way. I was told that the Guide was supposed to help make our DVC experience "magical" and that he/she was supposed to be our "partner" in DVC for many years to come. Since we're just starting out in this, and had already been let down MANY times by our guide, the partnership was obviously not working very well. I guess I lucked out being assigned a new guide then. I'm sorry you had so much trouble and still weren't receiving help.

I have had a couple of really good guides, the problem is they keep quitting and they assign me a new one. I do not even remember who I have now. They used to call me occasionally to ask if I need anything, but this new one does not. Does not matter though because after buying two contracts directly from DVC I am sold on buying only resale now.

Ditto that!

Carol Ann DeAngelo has been our guide since we purchased in '00. She's gone above and beyond her role as guide for us. She's wonderful, very personable, responsive, and knowledgeable. Love her!!

You should call our DVC Guide, Gib McCain (800) 827-8731, he can answer your questions. He is a knowledgeable, well respected, Senior Guide and he can walk you through buying direct and set you Brother up for the tour during your next WDW vacation.

:earsboy: Bill

Gib is our guide too and has always been responsive and informative. I believe he has been there since the beginning so he is one of the more senior guides around.

reading about the negligent guides is sad...I have had a wonderful experience with Derek DeBoer...he has put up with all of my emails and questions and general banter about Disney and life in general with nothing but good cheer and a helpful attitude! He was not pushy or quick to get that sale...he was just doing what he loves. I would recommend him to anyone who is even interested in knowing how this works! :goodvibes

Lisa DeRosa is my guide. She is AWSOME, FABULOUS and just great to deal with. So glad she is my guide. The funny thing is she was not my original DVC Guide, that person left the company 3 months after I bought and I was notified by DVC that a new Guide would be contact me and the next day Lisa called and we have had a great relationship ever since.

Stephanie Scheiner - I can't recommend her highly enough. Even tho' we're in a different time zone (I live in the UK), she's incredibly prompt to respond to my emails and makes the whole process so very easy... :goodvibes

Agreed - Stephanie is fabulous! Always very helpful, and always interested in talking even if she's knows you're not doing an add-on. I find myself stopping by the preview center every time I'm down there just to visit and have a bit of a chat about our mutual Disney addiction.

Larry Hope is my guide and I do not recommend him. In fact, we have and will continue to purchase resale contracts because of his lack of commitment and refusal to return phone calls. I purchased my first contract with him directly through Disney and wish I would have understood the resale market at that time. I currently own 5 separate conracts and will never purchase directly through Disney again.

If you are unhappy with your existing guide, I suggest that you request a new one. You can even request someone specific. I wouldn't let an incompetent guide stop you from buying direct, if that's the way you want to go.

Never before posting (o.k. maybe once before)... just couldn't pass this one up...

We were just matched with an AWSOME GUIDE - George Rey...

Our previous guide quit some time within the last year, but we were never notified. It just happens that we were matched with George. He's great and VERY helpful!

Good luck!

Our guide is Ricardo. He has been wonderful! He even gave me a cell phone number for contacting him, and answered the phone at 6pm when I was driving home from work. He was working the night of the webcast and we spoke to him just afterwards...around 10:30pm! I think he is great.

I am really glad to hear there are so many "good guides" out there and some dvc owners do think a guide has more "duties" then just selling a product.

I still cannot get over being "singled" out on this forum when I said my guide was not at all helpful. There are dvc owners who say a guide is there to sell you the product after that you should be using MS for any other questions or concerns!

I'm sorry that happened to you. I didn't have any experience with my guide that didn't include a sale (whether it be my original buy-in or the add-ons), so I was pleasantly surprised to hear that others are contacted by their guides regularly and wished a good trip. I didn't have that experience and don't really think it's necessary -- but it is nice.

Aldemar Ramirez is fantastic. He was so great when we bought, but its the other touches, like a postcard when we got back to the UK thanking us. He always leaves a message on our resort mailbox wishing us a great vacation. He is awesome.
