Just like with any business, the folks who work there are motivated for different reasons. Our experience with our original guide was not pleasant, for many reasons. There were broken promises and frustrations. The whole situation with her felt more like your standard "only out for the sale" timeshare purchase rather than a Disney experience... and that was unfortunate. Luckily, Disney does care that your experience is positive. If you truly are having difficulties with your guide, they will provide you with a new one. =)
I agree it should not be that way. I was told that the Guide was supposed to help make our DVC experience "magical" and that he/she was supposed to be our "partner" in DVC for many years to come. Since we're just starting out in this, and had already been let down MANY times by our guide, the partnership was obviously not working very well. I guess I lucked out being assigned a new guide then. I'm sorry you had so much trouble and still weren't receiving help.I actually called QA one day and asked if I could get a new guide since my guide was not getting back to me, I was put on hold and the next thing I know I am on the phone with my guide????? Got what we needed done but it should not be that way. I was told on this forum that a guide is there to "sell" you the product just like a car sales man. The difference is I bought 3 contracts thru dvc in 3 months and got no customer service. If I bought 3 cars from a car sales man and called you can bet they would call me back!
Okay after 3 calls requesting help with a ressie (he told me he would help me with a ressie and he has his own MS in his office) I finally got a call back short and sweet, he help me out getting me what I needed, I guess now he has fulfilled his "duty" I do not see calling him again even if I want to add on.
Anyway looking forward to a wonderful experience with dvc, vacations is what it is all about!
I have had a couple of really good guides, the problem is they keep quitting and they assign me a new one. I do not even remember who I have now. They used to call me occasionally to ask if I need anything, but this new one does not. Does not matter though because after buying two contracts directly from DVC I am sold on buying only resale now.
You should call our DVC Guide, Gib McCain (800) 827-8731, he can answer your questions. He is a knowledgeable, well respected, Senior Guide and he can walk you through buying direct and set you Brother up for the tour during your next WDW vacation.

Stephanie Scheiner - I can't recommend her highly enough. Even tho' we're in a different time zone (I live in the UK), she's incredibly prompt to respond to my emails and makes the whole process so very easy...![]()
Larry Hope is my guide and I do not recommend him. In fact, we have and will continue to purchase resale contracts because of his lack of commitment and refusal to return phone calls. I purchased my first contract with him directly through Disney and wish I would have understood the resale market at that time. I currently own 5 separate conracts and will never purchase directly through Disney again.
I still cannot get over being "singled" out on this forum when I said my guide was not at all helpful. There are dvc owners who say a guide is there to sell you the product after that you should be using MS for any other questions or concerns!
