We were reassigned to Stephanie Scheiner last week... and she's FABULOUS! She's quick to respond, acted upon the promises made by our previous guide, verified that our paperwork is finally correct (the previous guide put our contract through with financing even though we told her it would be a cash sale MANY times), and even sent us a lovely care package and handwritten card welcoming us to DVC. What a wonderful improvement!

:thumbsup2

Glad that you finally got the service you expected. :thumbsup2

My DSis bought first and Jim MCcoy is her guide. My DH & I bought through Jim also and I can't say enough great stuff about him. He always returns calls, is polite, knowledgeable, and never pushy.

I agree. He was/is our guide. He was very helpful and friendly! I would recommend him!

I too have been impressed with Jim McCoy. He was our guide from our tour thru our purchase @ OKW! As newbies we had lots of questions and reservations. Jim took his time and worked with us, was very patient and very helpful. Always returned our calls and e-mails promptly!

I have Linda Scolaro and she is a great guide. I have 2 contracts. She calls back whenever I have questions. Love her to death.

reading about the negligent guides is sad...I have had a wonderful experience with Derek DeBoer...he has put up with all of my emails and questions and general banter about Disney and life in general with nothing but good cheer and a helpful attitude! He was not pushy or quick to get that sale...he was just doing what he loves. I would recommend him to anyone who is even interested in knowing how this works! :goodvibes

Derek DeBoer is our guide as well and we couldn't be happier or more pleased. He is sincerely a nice guy and he is so patient and kind, answered ALL of our questions, was NOT pushy at all and got back to us ASAP when we had questions - either by phone or email. Since our purchase, if we've had a question he's been just as attentive and helpful.
I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone - our experience with him has been amazing. Good Luck to your brother!! :goodvibes

I'm really happy with our guide Roland Lammers. He has always gotten back to me in a timely manner and answered all my questions. He just a nice guy to deal with.

We had Michael Johnson who was great.....but he got promoted.....we were then given Michelle McCallister who has been absolutely great as well. I wasnt sure what to expect because we had such good luck with Michael but Michelle has been equally responsive, friendly and right on top of things in the short time we have had her! I have to say so far we have made out great!!! Which is good because we own 9 contracts:rotfl2:

We are happy with out current Guide, but in reality, the only time you need one is when you buy points direct from Disney.

Some Guides will stay in touch if they think that you are a potential buyer for additional points and some will add you to the mailings that are done by a outside contractor.

They are sales people, period. I respect their time and only make contact if I need info or wish to buy direct.

TONY DIEHL is awesome! We signed up for the DVC tour while in a park in late 2000, and he was assigned to us. He was promoted for a few years, and called us to let us know who our new guide would be. He also called us when he returned, which I was happy about because he was a little more personable than our replacement guide. If he is not in, I leave a message and he gets back in touch with me in a timely fashion. Today, I called him after lunch, and he returned my call before 5 pm. He answers any questions I have, even if he has to put me on hold for a few minutes to double-check his answer. He is the main reason I keep adding on!

Our guide is Jim McCoy. We've had great experiences with him. Always pleasant & patient - answering all of our questions. Must be time to speak to him about an add-on...:):)

Our guide is TODD BEARDEN and we love him!!!

He has helped us with many things beyond our 4 add ons!!! We've referred several people to him and they have all been happy with Todd as well.

Yeah Todd, you are the best!!

I disagree to a point. My guide told me to call with any questions, concerns if I want tips on staying at different properties (since he has stayed at all of them he can steer me in the right direction) Well I have a hard time having him call me back, except when I used the magic word of add on.

When I make any large purchase from a "sales" person I expect them to be my main contact if I have a problem, questions or concern. I agree that you need not call your guide for every little issue but I would like to know that I have a particular person I can call when there is a need.

I will look at resale going forward because the service through TSS was far better then I got through dvc. Sales people should know that word of mouth is huge. We have 2 different sets of friends traveling with us this year both are interested at "looking" at dvc, cannot and will not recommend the guide we have/had, since I have no plans to contact him going forward.

dbs, I agree that service AFTER the sale should be a priority for anyone who wants to be known as an outstanding salesperson. It's that service that goes above and beyond that causes members to recommend their guide to future purchasers. We've been happy with our new guide, and as you can tell from the posts here, not all of the DVC salespeople abandon their clients after the sale is closed. Perhaps give your friends a list of those who are mentioned here... and you can specifically ask for one of them when going for a tour. I know from previous calls... it seems like the three who were NOT recommended here are all over at Kidani Village now, and many of the others work out of the SSR office at this time. So, perhaps that would be a good starting point if your friends are interested in learning more about DVC during your trip.

Hey Lesley!!!! Derek is SUPERB - and I Thank YOU so much for sending us to him.............. he has been truely AMAZING!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your guide and how you were treated.............. THIS is the exact point I was making, DEREK is NOT like that at all............ he has answered every single question, gotten back to us at lightening fast speed, been friendly, NOT pushy and ABSOLUTELY NOT just trying to make the sale.......... in fact, in our case, when I called him, I asked him a few questions, then, I was telling him we wanted to buy - and he at first didn't even realize that is what I was saying........ he was ONLY interested in answering my questions and NOT trying to make the sale - I think I totally caught him off guard that we wanted to buy right then.......... it was kind of funny - He totally put DH and I at ease about buying in.............. and convincing DH is a TASK - believe that!!!! LOL The best part is he has stayed in touch since the initial sale, again, answering any questions, pointing me in the right direction, etc..., he sends info regarding new incentives, at our request, and it's not in a way that seems like he's ONLY "after" a sale or add on, its just for information for us, to keep us in the "loop". He actually just today sent me an email for us to enjoy our upcoming trip, again, he's very nice and friendly AND knowledgable about DVC....... I would recommend him to anyone, he is VERY GOOD and I got such a good feeling from him, just his sincere approach, not at all "salesman" like, if that makes sense - You should have your friends contact him, if nothing else, to "feel" him out............ he is sincerely a nice guy and will help them out - no doubt.

As Lesley stated, you can contact her or me, if you'd like his info. Either way, good luck to your friends :goodvibes

hey Wendypooh and Lesley!

Lesley sent Derek my way and I am so grateful...and he is just as Wendypooh decribed below. :goodvibes

I have been having issues with my approval as my mortgage company is lagging on my remodification - its a huge long story that alot of you are aware of but HE has contacted ME several times with words of reassurance and encouragement no matter what happens with it. He doesnt have to do that, and with the small amount of points I am purchasing (100) I am SURE most 'sales people' woudnt go THAT far in making me feel better about it.

Heather, Disney is allowing you to do a first-time purchase of just 100 points? Which resort?

Hey Heather...........Good Luck Sweetie!!! Hoping all goes well for you!!

Derek is a sweetie isn't he............ he's just such a nice guy! I'm glad to hear he's the same way for you!

OP - I'm NOT positive, but I think I saw a post recently that would even allow you to buy only 50 pts................. I'll have to see if I can find it and post for you.

(When we purchased, I believe the minimum was 160)

EDIT: Here is that thread.................. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2462080
