Does anyone have a Nikon Digital Camera or can recommend one?

The one I'm considering is a Nikon Coolpix 7900.

Any advice?

I've got a Coolpix 5700 and am very satisfied with it.

They are pretty good cameras, however I have been, and still am totally disappointed with the blue hues. They *way* over do the blues and the pics don't look quite natural to me. I'd hate to have to edit every pic I took due to over blue hues.

I admit, I went with Canon for a few of my digitals over the years and never been disappointed :)

I have the Nikon Coolpix 3100. It takes nice pictures.

I have an old 995, I am happy with it. I would like an SLR, but do not like the large size, nor the lack of a preview screen, and a swivel viewfinder.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 4300 and wouldn't trade it for the world!!!

My sister has the Coolpix 5200, I believe. We all love it. It takes far better pictures than my digital (but mine's a Minolta, so that's a no brainer). Her pictures are on par with those taken on my dad's, a much bigger Nikon digital (not sure what it is, but it's higher quality, more heavy duty). The quality of my sis's pics on her digital is excellent. Nikon, overall, makes a top notch product.

hmmmm interesting you should say that, I have thousands of dollars worth of Minolta equipment , and have never had a problem with the cameras nor the results obtained with them..

Minolta also makes top notch equipment

my latest is a Minolta A2 Digital... the quality is awesome...

what model do you have...

My SIL gave me a Nikon CoolPix 4600 on Mother's Day and I love it!! :goodvibes

I have a coolpix 4300 and LOVE it! It was hard for me to just take my digital camera ( I still love my 35mm) this past trip, but I have to say it was nice not worrying about all of my film being erased or lost or even bad pictures! I bought extra memory cards, and LOVE being able to email or even post them to the board!

Here is a picture I took in May with my coolpix 4300!

I have the coolpix 4300 and am very disappointed!!! I have had it for 1 1/2 years and when DH and I were in Bermuda last month it died on us!! I kept getting the ready "system error" and the lens would not open and the focus was very blurry. It wasn't dropped or anything.

I took it to the local camera store and they quoted me as a minimum of $160 to ship it to Nikon to have them fix it and it would take 4-6 weeks!!!

I would love to hear if anyone has had this type of problem with their Nikon before and how did you resolve it!!

Thanks

Thanks for the replies everyone.

This will be our first digital camera! DH has been doing lots of homework and asking around, and this has everything we are looking for, and a little extra too.

Keep the advice coming though, we haven't bought it just yet!

Just wondering if you have a followup to this thread.
I just purchased the Nikon 5600 this past weekend. I am not satisfied with the results. The night pictures/low light pictures are blurry. I have an Olympus digital that takes beautiful pictures on auto mode. The Nikon pictures are just blucky. I am so surprised at how many people like theirs. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong.

I'm still experimenting with our 7900, but I'm very, very happy with the results. Ofcourse, this is our very first digital camera, so I don't have anything to compare it too.

I have a Nikon 3100 & love it! I love it so much I bought DS a Coolpix 3200!
I also have a Sony digital & Nikon FE, FA & FM Petri & Pentax SLRs,

It's difficult to leave my Nikon SLRs at home when traveling. With airport security the way it is it's easier to leave them home.

I have a D70 and love it but I have a feeling that it is a little more expensive and heavier than you are looking for.
