I need to replace my blender and was wondering if this thing could be used as a regular blender as well as a frozen concoction maker?

I have one and love it. I don't have a regular blender anymore. Funny thing is that I use it more for fruit smoothies for the kids than anything else.

Of course, it's always nice around 5pm to slip a little rum into that fruit smoothies for mommy and daddy!

I guess what I am trying to figure out is whether this thing could also replace a regular blender. My blender died the other day. I'd love to get this appliance but couldn't justify it if I also need to get a new blender (which I use often). Now if this does both, I can justify it.;)

My DH got me the Key West for Christmas two years ago. We love it!

You can "shave" only, "blend" only or "blend and shave" so you could use it as a regular blender.

We make a lot of frozen coke type drinks as well.

The best price that I've found them is at Kohl's when they have the 30% coupon sale.

DH gave me the travel case for Mother's Day last year. I laughed but it really does come in handy. We almost always end up taking it with to parties.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. How do you make a frozen coke drink?

I got my husband the Key West and he loves that thing!

Target has a $200 model that is not nearly as nice. Definitely check out the different models!

DF and I are going to put this on our registry at Target. I hope we get it!

Sorry to reply so late.

We just use Coke in the blender and add extra shaved ice. So for 1 drink, we put the switch on 2 so that there's twice as much ice. We put the can in the freezer for about an hour before so that it's nice and cold. Otherwise it will melt the ice and you end up with a watered down Coke. ;)

We have one and love it. Perfect for frozen drinks. (Google Margaritaville Havanas and Bananas for a wonderful frozen drink)

We still have a blender for things not related to making drinks. Workable blenders can be had for <$20.

This is an old thread but I haveto chime in here. I just got the Margaritaville Fiji today and holy cow this thing is awesome! The first drink I made was the Frozen Dragon Berry Colada, WOW!!! I wasnt sure about this thing at first, but it is now the most awesome thing in my house...aside from me of course:thumbsup2

I was looking at this as well to make grey goose slushies :cool1:
Please do tell!!! lol! I like grey goose with cranberry juice and I've also tried it with grape cranberry juice and it tasted like a grape jolly tancher-yum!!!

Whats the recipe???? I dont have the machine you all are talking about but i do have a ninja. How much are the machine you all are talking about?

I have the ninja as well and that think works great! The recipe for the ninja is that I chop the ice really good first, then add 2 oz of Bacardi Dragon Berry rum, 2oz strawberry puree, (I just use the strawberry daquri or margarita mix) and 3 oz pina colada mix to the blender and enjoy! Just make sure you get the ice as shaved as you can get it before you add the ingredents. There is your Dragon Berry Colada!:thumbsup2

If you were wondering the price of the Margaritaville blenders, the one I have sells for $349 on the margaritaville cargo websites but you can get them alot cheaper if you shop around or buy used.

When I saw this thread I thought I'd check it out. It took a second to figure out it was my thread. :rotfl:

Well, I did eventually receive this as a gift last yearand would love everyones recipes. I believe the trick is that all the liquid needs to be cold to keep the ice from melting too quickly. I'm still trying to figure it out how to get the perfect frozen margarita. Mine are still too watered down. A recipe for the Grey Goose Slushie would be appreciated too.
