Does anyone have a BCV pool update?

We have only been home once (March 2003) and the slide at SAB was closed for refurbishment. I had thought I heard that parts of SAB were going to be closed starting in November this year. We are leaving in early December, does anyone know what if any parts will be closed then?

It basically goes like this...

November to Thanksgiving: Children's play area
Early December to Christmas: Lazy River area
January and Feburary: Slide

According to the current schedule, the pool entire complex should not be closed at any one time.

Forgive my ignorance, but how many parts of the pool are there?

Three were mentioned, are there any missing?

If the Lazy River area is closed, are there still places that people can swim?

There are three main sections. The children's area (nearest Yacht Club) has a sandy bottom and a huge sandpile in the middle; it's only about 18-24" deep.

The lazy river area is in the middle; I believe it's 6-8 ft deep. We've never actually used this area.

The "slide" area is more than just the slide exit. It contains the whirlpool, sinking sands and bubbles areas (not all of these operate all the time) and is 3-4 ft deep. This is nearest the Beach Club.

I was there on November 1st and 2nd. The kiddy section was barricaded. All other pool areas were open. I was told that the pool will be refurbished in sections. This has never been done since it opened (1990?). They expect completion by the end of January if all goes according to schedule.

Please! Please!! PLEASE!!!! let the kiddie section be reopened by the weekend after Thanksgiving. Our grand gatehering of 11 includes 7 children, all ages 6 or under, and we NEED that kiddie section.

I would expect it all to be open over Thanksgiving weekend. But you never know!?!

I'm just hoping they will finish early. We will be there Feb 20-25 when the major pool area will be down. (Expected to finish Feb 25)

I stayed at BCV this week and the Kiddie Section was still barricaded looks like they are adding all new sand and most of the work looked almost complete. Hope it's done before your trip later this month.

i just got back friday and it looked like the kiddie section is just about done.in fact friday they were painting the pool depths back on the walls of that part so thats proabbly the last thing they do.good luck

I hope the sinking sands area gets fixed. It's a shame it doesn't work. Perhaps the whirlpool area could be speeded up too.
