I just looked through about 10 pages on here looking for a review and saw nada !?! I was looking for a good dinner for our AK night. This looks nice and close to the park... Can anyone tell me how their dinner was?

The unofficial guide gives it one star and calls it overpriced, I however, like to march to the beat of my own drummer. I tried it and it was just okay, but way overpriced. Put it this way, it's a huge hotel with lots of convention guests and you never have to wait or make a reservation.

Passporter gave it a pretty bad review too.

Reviews at All Ears are a lot better organized since they've basically set up a sub forum for every single restaurant, I gurantee you'll find some there. The dining review board here is good to read about people's stories (lots of good writers), but bad to try and find a particular restaurant.

We ate there for breakfast twice, and I don't really know why we went back the second time. The breakfast buffet wasn't that good because the food had been sitting out way too long and was pretty dry both times. I enjoyed breakfast at the Pepper Market much more.

We stay at CSR on our trips and have multiple meals at the Maya Grill. We really enjoy it.

It used to be the WDW flagship for Nuevo Latino cuisine. But, as with most things at WDW, they found out people don't want interesting and exciting cuisine -- they want Appleby's. Also, CSR is a convention hotel and conventioneers want steak when they're on an expense account. So, now it's a steak and chops house just like a million others.

We loved, loved, loved it when it opened. Now, the only trace of the original restaurant is found in some of the appetizers and desserts. So, when we go, we order a variety of appetizers and a couple of desserts. We don't bother with the entrees, which are things like "mixed grill". We've enjoyed it when we do that. They also have delicious margaritas.

The restaurant itself is quite pretty, tables are nicely spaced and it usually isn't jam-packed -- all of which are major plusses at WDW where even the $50 per person restaurants make me feel like I'm squished into a tiny plastic table at McDonald's during lunch hour.

The resort is gorgeous at night as well, so after dinner we walk around the lake and enjoy just how pretty CSR is.

We have never had breakfast at Maya Grill, but we hate buffets so it's never appealed to us.

This week on the Disunplugged podcast Kevin did a full review of the Maya Grill!

We ate there last year during free dining and the food was fabulous - service was absolutely terrible. We would probably try it again hoping that our server was just having an off (very, very off) night. We enjoyed the atmosphere and, like I mentioned, we thought the food was great!

There is a brand new DIS review of Maya Grill here:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/reviews/Maya-Grill.htm

We ate there last summer. We enjoyed a couple of salads and shared a couple of appetizers. Friends ate there later the same week-we were much happier than they were. They went the full entree route, and wished they'd have chosen another restaurant.

I ate there when CSR first opened and thought the food was very good. I haven't been back since but it sounds like its gone downhill.

We have stayed at CSR six (soon to be seen) times. We have had breakfast at the Maya Grill twice, but have never had dinner. We prefer the breakfast offered at the Pepper Market. As for dinner, we are never around the resort at dinner time because we've already had our mid-afternoon break and headed back to the parks by dinner time.

We love the Maya Grill. The prices are about the same as everywhere else, but, the setting is better. We have never had any problem with the service. We did meet the Chef a few years ago. He had made a wonderful Cream of Mushroom soup that we asked the waiter about, so, he got the Chef.

We find it a nice quiet romantic place, where we usually dress up (dress for her, tie for me) and had a 'Date Night'. If you time things right, you can see 'Wishes' in the distance across the CSR lake (I forget the name at this time).

As for the Unofficial Guide, we quit buying it. He hated all the restaurants that we thought we great. It doesn't invalidate his opinon, it just means we totally think he is wrong.

Then there is the Pepper Market. We go there frequently for breakfast. It's a full meal hidden in a counterservice cafe.

We stayed at CSR last year for DDs bithday and had dinner at Maya Grill on our first night. The place was beautiful, the margaritas and appetizers were yummy. It did seem expensive, but we were on the dining plan so we didn't care. The waiter was ok. He didn't pay much attention to my DDs birthday button, but aside from that he was good. Taking a walk around Lago Dorado after a big dinner was especially nice! :goodvibes
