Does anyone ever buy anything at Wyland Gallery?

He's very down to earth and personable. His staff was also very friendly. We really enjoyed the experience
Just wanted to echo this sentiment. I thought he was a thoroughly pleasent, informative and entertaining host. For anyone who is remotely interested in the subject. If you happen to be in an area where he is doing a show/personal appearence I would strongly recommend taking the time to go watch. He comes over as a really nice guy.

Don't you think the huge sculpture of the dolphins would look great in the middle of the typical living room ;) ? My DH and I laugh about it everytime we walk by. (It's beautiful, of course. Just not very practical for your typical home. Guess we can see that Wyland doesn't create for "your typical home.")

DBF got one of Wyland's paintings in Hawaii. Wyland was doing a show and they had a bidding on the painting he was doing for the show. DBF came in second for the bidding at $7500 and they told him they would do one for him at that price if he wanted so he said yes. They took pics of Wyland painting it and sent those to DBF. We are waiting til we move to Fla and then having them ship it to us ( they said they could hold it for him for a year). It is an oil painting which I guess he isn't doing anymore.
We have also purchased one of his lithios from QVC and some of his smaller pics from the gallery in HH.

PLEASE tell me you have details of QVC purchase. I too purchased a signed litho On Qvc but it was destroyed in house fire. I need details to submit to insurance for reimbursement. PLEASE CONTACT ME. 513-484-9153. PLEASE. B-))

I have one of his prints -- I'd love to own an original. I love his work! :)

Sounds like he makes copies of his paintings? So, not sure if you can ever believe you have an 'original'?

Maybe contact gallery? I edited out your phone # on this quote and post.

Certainly most people could tell the difference between the original painting (with texture, brush strokes, etc.) and a lithograph (essentially, a high quality poster.)

My sister and her husband bought a signed and numbered print on their honeymoon in Hawaii. Fifteen years later, it's still hanging on their living room wall. They're happy with their purchase.

I remember some controversy of Wyland withdrawing his permission to use an image that he licensed to the California Coastal Commission for use on special license plates. California has a series of these plates, and his was of a whale tail. They cost a premium and also had a premium renewal fee, where these went to a commission fund. He wanted 20% of the proceeds to go to his own foundation.

In the end the plate design was replaced with a composite design from a couple entries in a contest.

Last time we stayed at Boardwalk we looked at a painting that we really really wanted. Got all the specs and stuff and spent the whole vacation trying to decide if we should get it or not. We decided against it. lol

We've bought a few of the Tim Cotterill frogs there. They're made of bronze and definitely a conversation piece.

Usually that is true, and helpful. From what I see, the person they are trying to contact hasn't logged in since Mar 2014.

Lol at the zombie thread but I will jump in. Many moons ago, probably over 25 at this point, I met Wyland at Sea Life Park on Oahu. I bought a poster and he signed it for me. Fast forward to 2008 and he was appearing at the gallery at the BW. We stopped in to watch him paint and DD was fascinated. Wyland very graciously took a picture with DD. Now I have the signed, framed poster with this pic and one of him painting hanging all together, love them!
