Does anyone ever actually call and cancel ADR?

We are planning sort of a last minute trip in 2 weeks to Disney for a week. I am wondering if anyone has actually had any luck with people actually calling and cancelling for the popular TS restaurants? Also I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with no shows and just walking up particularly San Angel Inn (for party of 5) and Alfredo (for party of 8).

Thanks!

restaurants do not reserve space for walkups, so it's hit and miss. depends on the restaurant, the season and the time. your best bet is to go when they first open and ask. but chances are if you can't call and make an ADR for it, it's gonna be a waiting game if you're that lucky.

and yes, people do cancel. i've canceled ones i haven't needed and i've been able to get ADRs simply by calling over and over every day until it opens up.

I always cancel if I am not going to be able to be there.. I figure that gives someone else a chance for the restaurant.

We always call to cancel the ADR's we are not going to use. Its just the right thing to do.

Yes, we called to cancel ours! And kuckily so do other people! We had to cancel Chef Mickey's due to car problems! :scared1: They had nooo other openings for a party of 8 for our whole trip! I called 3x a day and bingo!!!I got another ADR before the end of our trip!:wizard:

I always call and cancel reservations when I won't be needing them. I think others would do so too because I have gotten hard to come by tables later on in my trip. I wouldn't wait for La Cellier or CRT though. ;)

i'd disagree on CRT as it has a very heavy cancellation policy. i believe it's 24 hours out.

I have canceled a few for the time it sounds like you'll be there (5/25-6/2) and changed them to something else.

I seem to cancel at least one ADR every trip, after we are on property. We tend to poop out near the end of our trip, and decide to hang back at the resort and order something from quick service. I always call to cancel, to free the table up for someone else. I also have had luck adding last minute ADR's while on property.

Yup I always cancel, even if its only an hour before my ADR and I realize we're just too pooped, I call and cancel. Hopefully somebody has benifited from my last minute cancellation

after being at epcot all day on our first trip last year, there was no way i could go back that night for dinner(foot problems). i called the dining line and they were more than happy to thank me for calling in the cancellation-and got me a spot where we where staying.
it is the right thing to do.

I always call and cancel. In fact, last July we were too full from lunch at Tusker House to eat dinner at the time of our ADR. So about 4:00 I called and cancelled our ADR for Le Cellier at 5:30. I told DH somebody is going to hit the jackpot tonight since LeCellier is always booked to capacity!

I've almost always called to cancel my dining reservations if I wasn't going to show. I thought that was what you were supposed to do.

I cancelled my ADR's for Le Cellier for this coming Sept. The CM kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to do that, asking me if I knew how many people wanted to eat there! almost making it sound as if I were:crazy: I informed her that I was sure and she just replied by saying, "ok..if you say so". She just could not understand why I wanted to cancell, I guess she kept saying in her head, "this woman does not know what she is missing out on.":cheer2:

Sometimes, at the parks, we'll decide that we don't want to take the time to eat a TS lunch that I've got an ADR for. I'll just stick my head into the restaurant and cancel with the gal at the desk.

I try to cancel any adr's I've made and won't be able to make. For a party of 8, would you mind being split up? Can you eat at a an off time say, 7:30 PM or an early dinner/late lunch about 4:00 PM? These things would make your chances a bit better.
