Does anyone else watch Dr. Phil's show?

I've been taping them every day. No matter what the subject, he always seems to say something relevant to my life.

I just caught it a couple of times when my daughter was sick. What was today's topic?

I get a chance to see it or at least parts most days. I like it. He just seems to be a nice guy.

Me too Fergie.... I love dr. Phil. I always cry watching that show... the very first show I saw myself 100 times and I honestly feel like I have changed my attitude since watching it. :)

I like him and his show. I liked to watch him of Oprah on Tuesdays I watch the show when I remember it's on.

Dr. Phil ROCKS! I just love this guy- No bull, no *****-footing around - straight to the point - own it, fix it, live it.....
Megs, I agree - I've seen some of myself in different episodes & it was a wake-up call - My best friend is using his Life Strategies book & loves it. I was thinking about it myself.....
PS - Even Gary likes him & he usually hates those "self-help" gurus....

I watch the show everyday. There is just something about him that I like. Maybe because he also has a compassionate side to him too.

I love the show. He can be brutal, but not for the sake of being mean. He truly makes you understand the way your mind works.

No, he is on opposite General Hospital--I will NEVER give up Sonny for Phil!:o

I LOVE Dr. Phil. (I tape it so I don't miss GH Pooh):D :D AND I also would never give up Sonny except maybe for Jax:D

I used to wait for Oprah on Tuesdays just for him. I was very happy that he got his own show and he deserves it. I find him very comforting and open and very honest. I also believe in no bull**** too from a therapist and I must say for a T.V. therapist he does a really fine job. It's hard to cram feelings and problems into one hour. It looks like he follows up on his guests when he can. I am sure Oprah has a lot to do with it though. Her show is very good so far this season (and she looks great!)

I tape it every day. Haven’t gotten much of it this week though since it’s being interrupted for sniper updates…which is especially annoying since all they do is spend half an hour saying that there’s nothing new to report. Anyway, Dr. Phil is one of the few people I seem to always agree with.

I like him too. But, I find him lacking in one
area. Some of the people who come to him
have long term problems-many of them in fact.
He, on his show, never suggests they need
more counseling or ongoing therapy. He says
things like, "we're going to keep in touch" or
"we'll touch base again with ... to see how
she's doing". A one or two day visit with Dr.
Phil does not cure all ails. The woman who
was verbally abusing her daughter for being
overweight for instance. He told that woman
to "take this tape home and watch it a hundred
times if you have to". Come on, she was verbally
abusive to her eight year old daughter...she
wasn't going to have some breakthrough after
being on Dr. Phil's show! He acts like he's
some type of faith healer. I'd feel much better
if he were not messing around with people's
lives. The recent runaway girl that he tried to
get through to by using his son. That girl could
go home to her abusive boyfriend and get killed.
I also think his walking off with his wife in the
end of the shows if very fake. I think she is
extremely uncomfortable on screen-or just really
bad at it; she seems very fake and forced.
I'm watching, so I must like something of the
show....as I re read, maybe I should reconsider
and stop watching. Luckily, I'm too busy to watch
more than a few times a week.

Can't seem to find it in my TV listing....I'd like to at least see it everynow and then..:(

shortbun, I have to agree with you. Sometimes I really think he needs to tell people that they need some kind of extended therapy -- I’d say that most of the people on that show do. But he wouldn’t have much of a show if all he did was tell people to go to therapy. I hope that maybe off the air he refers them somewhere.

I don’t like the wife thing either…

You have to remember that you only see what goes on on camara. I would think that guests would have to sign some type of release that would include the encouragement for additional counseling services when they return home. I would doubt that as grounded as Dr. Phil is in common sense that he would not recognize that guests are not "cured" just by being on the show and that there would probably be some type of liability involved.

After all, that's how Oprah found him; as a consultant for litigation attorneys.
