Does Anyone Else Think this is NUTS?!?

We're going to the World December 24 to January 2 of this year. We're DVC members but have run out of points for Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th (too VERY expensive points nights). So I call yesterday to see what we can get for rooms those nights. The rooms were more expensive than I have ever heard at WDW. A standard view room at the YC was $475 a night plus tax, a standard room at any of the moderates were $225 plus tax. We stayed at the YC on July 3, 4, 5 this year for $189 a night.

$475 plus tax? That's crazy. I know it's not a supply/demand issue, because there are still standard view rooms available, so it must be Disney's expectation of supply/demand.

Have you been over to the DVC rent/trade board to get some more points?

The reason the rack rates seem high is because you are going during the peak holiday season, and that's the most expensive time to go.

We stayed at the YC on July 3, 4, 5 this year for $189 a night.

I have to ask, how did you get $189/night for YC on July 3-5? The standard rack rate for that during that time period is $340 - $385/night. Did you get an AP rate, AAA rate, or what?
