Does anyone else plan where they want to eat WAY in advance?

Let's see, where did we decide for next time?

Biergarten dinner (a must on every trip)

Yachtsman dinner (I think...we tried Le Cellier for dinner this trip for the first time and we were not impressed. It was okay. Service started great, but then our CM got a very high maintenance table and forgot about us. DH's steak was well-done when he ordered medium rare and had to be sent back...just meh)

Les Chefs lunch -- we had ADRs for dinner this trip, but the kids were so tired that we just ordered pizza and relaxed at AKL

CRT breakfast -- only if it's 2012. We want to take our DD1 if she's 3, but not at 2. Still too young to appreciate it.

1900 Park Faire breakfast -- we did this 2 years ago and loved the character interaction

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. We have a list at home.

Heck yeah! We are going in April 2011 and we are planning

onsite/DTD : Coral Reef, Ohana, HDDR, Le Cellier (unless it goes to signature in which case I'm thinking maybe the new TS in Mexico), 50's Prime Time, House of Blues

offsite : Hard Rock Cafe, Bahama Breeze, Outback Steakhouse

plus we always have to eat at WPE at least once, normally on our arrival night.

Yum you are making me hungry for Disney food!

MissLiz- are you on BBC? Your daughter's pic looks so familiar- maybe its from me seeing it on disboards in the past (since I have read like every thread on here it seems)

I would LOVE to go to Yachtsmen too!

Yes, and it's fun to plan ahead! Made our ADRs at 180 days and did research about a month before that. I also research CS restaurant menus, print out a couple of options for each day of our vacation, and that way we avoid that whole "where do you want to eat today? I dunno, where do you wanna eat?"

Oh my goodness! The planning is almost as much fun as actually going! I love the anticipation of it all!

We are going in February... the plan is to go to:

Chefs de France (celebrate my husband's 50th)
Tusker House Safari breakfast
Whispering Canyon Cafe (we've never been...)
Crystal Palace lunch
CRT breakfast
Mickeys Backyard BBQ (did HDDR last time.. so much fun!)
Hollywood and Vine (Fantasmic package)
Biergarten dinner
Chef Mickeys (never been)
T-Rex or another DTD place.. haven't quite decided that yet
Cape May breakfast
Pirates and Pals Cruise
Illuminations Cruise (after the bday dinner at Chefs De France)

Haven't made any ADR's yet, so I guess those are all subject to change until 180 days out.

Do you have to be a resort guest to use the online reservations? We use a timeshare, so I don't think it will be an option for us. I have always had success by calling, though, so I'm hopeful!

I hope that, wherever you decide to go, you have a wonderful time! I'm sure you will!

I start planning basically on the airplane on the way back from each trip (oh who am I kidding - I have an IDEA of where I want to eat basically as soon as I know when we're going again!).

My first day back I am working on my color coded schedule (in waltograph font of course) for the next trip. It's all a part of the fun for me!

Yes... Dh and I both look at the menus on all ears at least once a week. Dining is a large part of the Disney experience for us

You're fine. We're going for 11 nights in July 2011 & I already have our restaurants & park days planned, with expectations to tweak things, if necessary, just before the 6-month window.

We returned from our first Disney trip not too long ago, and were able to eat at some GREAT places:

Ohana Dinner
Chef Mickeys Breakfast
Le Cellier Dinner
Crystal Palace Breakfast
CRT Lunch
Boma

We are trying to plan for a trip May 2011 and I am already wondering where we should eat next time.... I am thinking

Donald Safari Breakfast pre park opening
CP Breakfast
Boma
New Pizza Place in Epcot?
Garden Grill?
Coral Reef?

hmmmmmm

Honestly i think planning is half the fun! You had really good restaurnts this past trip. Boma and Le Cellier being two of our favorites. I always try to go to new places when i go to disney and maybe his one or two old faves.

too funny!

I wish that I knew which parks had EMH on which days so I can decide where we are going each day. We avoided EMH for our trip and it worked out nicely!

I think we are going to try Trex this time too- though Wolfgang Express was a great deal on the DDP since we got decent food for only 2 cs credits!

No- you do not have to be a resort guest to book your reservations online! If you were a resort guest you could book 190 days in advance. As a non resort guest you can book your reservations 180 days in advance!

Pirate Cruise- we had it booked for our trip and canceled :( I am so sad that we did. We were nervous that our 1 yr old wouldn't make it staying up that late (Wishes was at 10pm) which would stress us all out. However, this upcoming trip in May- its absolutely something I want to do!

When we were there a month ago, I was thinking about the ADRs for what I thought would be our next trip, May of 2011....so that was a year ahead....and i had everything planned out for our last trip 7 months in advance....the funny thing is we decided to go this November thanks to a BB, so i felt like i was scrambling making ADRs for this one b/c I had to choose different places to please my Mom and it was after the 180 day mark....it is all fun tho! ;)

We almost always have our meals planned out and reserved on the 180 day mark. The meals, to us, are almost as much fun as the parks, and we always have a lot of fun discussing where we would like to eat. The only exception to the "always" is when we are traveling with others whose dining preferences may not be like our own.

We usually book a month or two in advance. We just booked for the beginning of September and made a few ADRs this week. We really enjoy flexibility, so I generally just book a couple lunches at parks where we know we'll be and sometimes a "special" dinner. The rest we usually wing. We've discovered some very cool places by just calling the morning of the day we'd like to eat and seeing what's available.

We also enjoy the restaurants at Citywalk and the Universal resorts, which don't require nearly as much planning in advance. It works well for our group to book a couple ADRs at WDW and then wing it based on what we feel like once we're actually on vacation at either Citywalk or some of the places at DTD that don't require ressies.

Nope, not on BBC. I'm sure it's probably from here. I think it's about time I update the pic. I've had that pic up since I joined DIS and it's from when DD was almost 3. She's almost 8 now.

We couldn't decide between Le Cellier and Yachtmen this trip and chose Le Cellier. So, we'll try the other next time.

I just love to plan, especially vacations!

For our upcoming Sept trip I had my ADRs booked months before my flight. I have 2 little ones so we're very into character meals and "fun" type places for them. In Sept we're going to:
O'hana (D)
Boma (D)
Coral Reef (D)
1900 Park Fare (B&D)
Kouzzina (D) - our first night, we're staying at Beach Club and are lounging by the pool that day.
