We've been living here for almost 5 years now and a few months after we moved in this woman knocks on my door with her son and says excuse me I just moved in and it looks like you have a son my sons age." It turned out her son was a little older but she basically invited him to play with my ds (then 6). So she visits for about 5 minutes hinting around about what my model house was like. (there was no way I was giving her a tour) then she left.

The boy seemed nice enough when they played but then everytime we would come home from some where he would be waiting outside "can Alex play?" constantly ringing our doorbell, and even calling our house continually. finally I stopped answering the phone. I felt like he was invading our privacy!

Well it turned out my ds didn't even like this kid he is kind of a bully and heard from the other neighbors that nobody else wants to play with him either.

so we started saying no when he asked if my son could play.
I know he's just a kid and of course wants someone to play with but I think its the parents fault. They should say " you just called their house you can't keep calling back again and again"

So now its almost 5 years later (been about 4 years since these kids have played together) and the kid still asks "can Alex play?" everytime me or my dh is outside.

I guess we've avoided being mean and saying my ds doesn't WANT to play with you. but don't you think he should get the hint? he's almost 12 years old!
so what do you guys think? anyone have any similair experience?

My neighbor asked me to babysit her six year old. I said yes, and thought that it would be fun. The poor little girl is special needs and has violent mood swings. Her mom forgot to tell me this, because everytime they tell someone no one will sit with her. She threw a tantrum, and broke a beach chair when we were playing outside. I feel really bad about it, but it's beyond my scope or abilities to sit for a child like this. Her mother needs to get her into some type of special care program. It's really a sad situation.:(

I've never had a similar experience, but with this kid being 12, I would think that he should get the hint. Maybe your son was the only child that was willing to ever play with him and that was nice, so he really likes and wants to be friends with your son.

My old next door neighbors used to be...I don't know...odd. It was kind of weird. One Christmas, I took our Christmas tree and sat it outside, on the backside of the house (the woods faced the back of our house). I was going to take it to the curb the next morning, but left it out back overnight.

The next morning, there was a trail of pine needles from the back of the house to the curb...the husband drug the tree out front by himself. He didn't want us to leave the tree out back and forget about it.

One particularly windy afternoon, the garbage man emptied everyone's trash cans and some pieces of trash got caught in the wind. Apparently, an old Target bag and a empty weed killer bag went into the neighbor's yard. I found them hanging off of my front door that night, with a note saying, "Keep your trash in your own yard." Uhhh....why didn't he just throw it into his trashcan?
 Anything of his that flew into our yard, I'd throw it away. The neighbor across the street was the one who told me who did it, and she thought it was as odd as I did.

He always mowed his lawn at 6:30 in the morning. It woke Maddy up ALL OF THE TIME when he did it. In the summer, he's mow it 3 times a week...why?!?!?! Why?!?!

After Maddy was born, the Homeowner's Association put a wooden stork in our front yard, something that every family got when a baby was born in our neighborhood. After it had been there a week, he actually came over and took it OUT of the yard and took it back to the Association office, saying it was an eyesore. What a jerk. Glad I don't live there anymore. I have more stories about him...and the other weirdos in there :)

Our next door neighbors are supposed to be moving the end of this week. No sign of it so far. Father is a minister trying to start a church, mom is SAH and homeschooled the 3 kids. Oldest asked to go to public school a couple of years ago, but got kicked out this year (senior) for downloading bomb making info on a school computer. He moved in with grandparents a town away then. All three kids wear all black and camo and are very foul mouthed. We hear the parents argueing about the kids all the time. (she says it's just a stage, leave them alone)

In my new neighborhood, there's a little old guy who keeps parking his car in my space. I've got the first space by the sidewalk. Called the Association just to make sure that's my space. Yup! Left him a note on his windshield yesterday. Let's see if he cooperates. Something tells me he won't. It annoys me no end. I miss my 2-car garage!! :(

In my last neighborhood, it irritated me when neighbors had a party and then would put their liquor bottles in my recycle bin because theirs was full. Ummmmm...go ahead and put your milk cartons and whatever else in, but keep your liquor bottles to yourself! LOL! I used to take them out and squeeze them into his bin.

Yes, about 125 of them. ;)

I have a very creepy man that lives on my connecting street. He was injured about 12 years ago in a workers comp thing. He supposedly has blackouts and doesn't remember 3 or 4 days. He is very nice goes out of his way to help people. he gives the kids sand bucket sized scoops of candy for Halloween. the end result is the kids think he is safe. I Do not. He is not on any type of registry, and perhaps is just lonley. But he always has somthing for the kids, soda on a warm day, candy, an extra toy, His house is at the bus stop. Some kids get off the bus and go into his house and have a soda. When I spoke to the parents about it, They were offended and said they were allowing it.

If that wasn't enough he told me he has 6 mts worth of rations and a generator to fuel his bunker, and should I need any thing of that sort he would hook me up.;) He also has night vison goggles. For what I asked him? He said he needs them.
His immediate next door neighbor moved across town, I saw her in the food store and asked where did she go? And she said she was convinced he was watching her at night with night vison goggles. Then she said isn't that crazy I was losing my mind... She did not think it was funny one bit when I told her he does in fact own some.
:p In addition he walks around at all hours of the night up and down the street it is all very unsettling.

Yup, very annoying. After 34 yrs here, you'd think I had seen about everything they could do, but now there is something new. No longer any kid problems, & boy did we have those. Now it is their lawn that amuses and excites them! The 2 of them, he's retired, are grass fanatics. they put in a sprinkler system, and are obsessed that the guy who mows my lawn is going to run over the ones near the prop line. I don't know what they do about the guy who mows their lawn. But when the guy mows mine, 1 of them comes out and walks up & down the line to make sure he doesn't mow even an inch on their property. Personally I think they need to get another hobby.

Several.

By far the worst ones are right in back of us. They scream and argue all the time. Winter is nice because everything is locked up and we can't hear them. Now that spring is here and the windows are open, the fights are back on.

I have neighbors diagonally across the street who moved in about 3-4 years ago. About 2 weeks after they moved in, they called my house at 2PM because my dog barked 3 times at a a squirrel, and it disturbed them. I told them that when my dog's barking disturbs them at 2AM, then they can call, but otherwise, leave me alone. Mind you, I supervise my dog very well, our yard is fenced, the dog is NEVER outside unless someone is home, and if he begins to bark even remotely like what I consider annoying(which is about 1), I pull him in. My other neighbor didn't even know I had a dog for about a month, so I am not one of those dog lovers who think the world revolves around me.

Well, these same folks are now in a huge property dispute with their connecting neighbor over like 10" of the property line.

Nuts!

Next door Witch is a nightmare. There's not enough pages on these boards to get remotely close to the psychotic antics she has pulled. All our other neighbors are cool...or at least no problem...but this piece of work next door...she's infamous around these parts. And if you see a service truck at her place for anything you can just write the service off...NO workman, service, repair, maintinence etc., has ever come back to our street once they have been unfortunate enough to have dealt w/her. Seriously...it's a real pain and we have been told by several companies why they won't return. She's a FREAK!

I have a neighbor whom I like very much, but she is a busybody---likes to know everybody's business, all of the time. If we have company, I know she is going to call to see who is over, and why.
At night, I close the curtains because she likes to look into peoples houses to see what they are up to. Not in a creepy way, but a nosey way.

My kids like to play with hers, but not ALL the time. I truly believe that they watch out the window, and every time we step foot outside, all of a sudden they run outside and come over. If we are just pulling up in the driveway, they all of a sudden run outside. When we go somewhere, they want to know "where". It's been happening so long, it's not a coincidence. They are never outside, otherwise. Even the mom does it....if she see's me outside, she will all of a sudden come out and pretend to be getting something out of her car, just so she can spark up a conversation with me. She does this a lot, and she never has found whatever it is she's been looking for in her car. They are all very nice, but a little overbearing, at times. I need to have a little bit of privacy.

Sometimes I don't answer my phone, either (thank goodness for caller ID), but I feel a little bad because I know they know we are home.

On Nov 15th 2001 My kids and I moved into our current home. On Nov 18th 2001 I found out what was to come from my neighbor!!

I always used the radio from my clock for my alarm ( of course I hit snooze!!) and on Nov 18th I woke up to stomping, Not really aware of what it was I ignored it........ I came home that afternoon to find a TYPED note taped to my door It stated that I needed to STOP playing mySTEREO in the morning!! I being new to the neighbored did not want any trouble so I switched my clock to alarm. But I guess that was not good enough for HER.
I continued to wake up almost every morning to FOOT stomping. This went on for a week or two and then I would wake up and see how long my clock would be ringing before the foot stomping began... literally it was simultaneous!!1 Well needless to say this LADY ( and I use the term losely) continued this behavior until July 5th 2002 when I awake on a hot summer day to hear pounding on my bedroom window!! She must have figured that the foot stomping was not good enough for her any more. I then called the police who in the past refused to do anything thing about this harrassment> The reason for thier lack of motivation to help me?? Oh ya it is because this "Lady" is on the TOWN BOARD!!! Well with the last incindent it was demanded that they do something or something worse will happen and they will have to deal with that.. So they go over to her house and then tell her she needs to stop./ So Now it is sept 2002 and she starts again...... Well I am going out of my house one day and this ........ stops me and calls me by name!! We have NEVER been introduced!! I figure who does she think she is calling my name .... Well she proceeds tell me that I am affectin her life!! Hahah She is referring to my having my vacuum on one night at 1030 ( now normally I dont do this but we had come home from the beach and for literally 2 minutes i vacuumed up the sand) So noew I normally try to keep the peace but when she approached me and started with me I just went off ,,, You must understand that given the fact the I know the following ...WHen she goes from room to rooom when she usea her bathroom, when she comes home , when she is ont he phone etc..... Yes obviously thin walls and too close ... Oh well maybe one day she will leave hahahah .. PS the association knows about all of this and they have had thier own problems wiht her they are theones who said to call the police. SHe has had problems with many people here including as I had later found out the people who lived her before me!!! Make me even more so wnat ot live on the top of a maountain with noone around!!!

Well, my next door neighbor is my son and he's not annoying :)

But, the neighbors across and down the road a bit have a dog (actually they got it from us this past January when our dog had puppies that weren't planned) that they let out early in the morning and leave tied up to "do its business" then the dog barks to be let back in. If it barked a couple of times and they let the dog back in it wouldn't be annoying, but it sometimes barks 15-30 minutes before they'll let it back in. This is at 6:15 in the morning, with windows SHUT. I can't imagine what it's going to be like come summer when we have our windows OPEN.

Yup... me. DW and I (since I work nights) tend to have some "beastly" arguments at night. Now we've moved out of the condo and into a house. Fewer arguments........ maybe. Quieter to the neighbors? I sure hope so.

I found out that we bought a house next door to drug dealers! Yikes. This is a nice neighborhood. You would NEVER expect it here! It wasn't long after we bought that we noticed cars pulling up and exchanging money for packages with the wife. Sometimes she would leave it in her mailbox. They would just pull up, take something out of her box and put a big wad of money in. You have no idea how many times I wondered if she would see if I snuck over and took the cash!! LOL
Anyways, it was reported But the homies are still comin! The sad thing is that my kids even noticed. I didn't tell them at first cuz I didn't want them talking about it and then the dealers would now it was us that reported them. Scum!

I almost forgot about our old neighbor who called the cops cuz we were setting of fireworks. It was the 4th of July! WE only had some fountains, bottlerockets, and firecrackers.
My DS's B-Day is July 2nd. We always set a few off for his b-day too. The cops didn't care as long as what we had was legal. I did find out that most of the stuff we can buy at the fireworks stores and tents are ILLEGAL! LOL
We were bad neighbors though. After he ticked us off by calling the police, we checked on exactly what we could use and up until what time. :teeth:
10pm was the latest for noise of any kind. Needless to say we did our noisiest, legel fireworks and used the chainsaw, etc until about 9:59! LOL
He got the hint.

LOL! She sounds like Mrs. Bucket from "Keeping Up Appearances." What a riot!!!! I know the TV show is funny, but I'm sure it is not funny in real life. I'd HATE to live next door to her!
