Does anyone else get put off by the HIGH cost of the dinners/character meals?

I'm starting to get put off.

With the price increases due to "Holiday Pricing" and the price increase of PSB to include the photo package that I don't even want and with the parice of a 10 - 12 year old to eat at a buffet, YES, it's starting to bother me.

For me, with the DDP changes this year and with an 11 year old to consider, the DDP isn't always an viable option for some people.

But I will still book them, maybe not as many and I'll be more careful about my selections, but I'll still book them.

It's all part of the WDW magical experience and part of the fun in planning our trip. :thumbsup2

Dh and I are WDW foodies and "no" we cannot find the same kind of food back here at home. We actually go thru WDW food withdrawl when we return, and don't go out to eat for a 4-6 weeks because we can't find anything locally that compares.

Now....keep in mind, we use the DDP to the fullest, matter of fact we will be on the DxDDP for our next vacation. The food at most of the sitdown TS restaurants is exceptional and definantly does not compare to Chilis or Olive Garden. We also avoid most of the buffets at WDW and are very selective about even our CS.

When I'm on vacation ( we go once a year, and always to WDW) I want to be served and pampered, which I do not feel you get at the buffets. Also, for that reason we have explored many of the Signature restaurants and find them to be superior to the reg. TS rest. (LeCellier, being the exception). I do agree with OP, that many times you can eat better and cheaper at the sitdown TS, if you order wisely and share some of the larger portion entrees and appies. It is also cheaper to plan a sitdown TS for the lunch hour then evening meal.

I sympathize with large families, and understand they cannot afford to eat the way DH and I do. If I had to eat at WDW buffets and CS (due to expense) I guess I would start comparing them the Ponderosa and Chilis also.

We always stay at the POFQ ( tho would love to try a deluxe sometime) because it does save us a few $$, which does allow us the fuel our WDW food and wine fetish.
