Does anyone do more breakfasts than dinners?

This is our third time visiting WDW (Dec 4-12). I don't do ADRs til Sept, but I'm considering doing more breakfasts and early lunches and just a couple of dinners that are our favorites. We have 3 kids (8, 6, and 3), and dinners can be a little crazy, after spending all day in the parks. Plus, my kids tend to eat more at breakfast. So I'm thinking about trying to schedules mostly breakfasts as our TS, and then we can have a snack and use CS for dinner. This will free up our evenings a bit more, not having to leave a park to get to dinner. We like to do evening EMH when we can. Anyway, just wondering what others thoughts on this were. What kind of places are good for breakfast? Of course we're gonna shoot for CM and CP. I've had dinner at Boma and would love to try their breakfast. I've heard Cape May is good too. Just trying to get some feedback/suggestions. I know I've got some time, but I tend to obsess a bit...

Thanks,

deb

I am. I am planning CRT, CP & 1900 Park Fare breakfasts. Lunch at Akershus & 2 dinners. CM & Le Cellier. I prefer early breakfast so it doesn't affect your touring plans and have to stop what you are doing to make an ADR.

We normally do more Breakfast then dinner. We always do CM it's our favorite. Plus last trip we did CRTprincess:. We are planning on doing it again in Aug.

If that works best for your family then do it! We didn't eat many big breakfasts, but we always did a big sit down lunch on the early(ish) side. Then, we would snack or do counter service for dinner. One of the highlights for my kids (when they were younger) was to get milkshakes at the Sci Fi for dinner....just....milkshakes! They were so excited to see Mom break the "you shall have something good for you before dessert" rule. As a matter of fact they were just asking if we were going to do it again this time. I wouldn't suggest a week of just milkshakes....but once or even (gasp) twice can be just plain fun! And our evenings were free to tour.

Yes, we always do more breakfasts and lunches than dinners. We aren't on the dining plan, so this June we aren't doing any dinners. We are going to a couple of breakfasts and are doing late lunches. We usually have a light dinner and some snacks.

We don't do any breakfasts. We just aren't breakfast people :)

Yes, I tend towards more breakfasts than dinners. Part of my reasoning is my DD is a very picky eater. She will eat a lot of breakfast foods, but lunch and dinner tend to be more miss than hit. I feel better paying for a TS meal (or using a TS credit) when I know she'll eat a decent amount.

We went to 1900 PF for dinner last year and she ate a spoonful of white rice and a bite of bread. Sigh.....

We do more dinners than breakfasts. We like to make rope drop and find that having a sit down meal later in the day works for us. One word of advice, it looks like you're doing the dining plan. Since breakfasts can be considerably less expensive than dinners run the numbers to see if it make sense to keep the DDP with the restaurants you are planning to do.

We do alot of breakfast especially when we are not on the dining plan. We are a family of 3. Me, my DH and my DD19, but we take 2 of our grandkids each trip. This year DGS12 and DGD11. We have been going about every other year since our other children were 10, 11, 12 & 14. The meals are cheaper and fit well in our budget and then do the CS for lunch and or dinner. We normally eat a big breakfast, and then an early dinner around 4 then maybe a snack. There are alot of great breakfast. Here are our favorites, some are character.

Tusker House-AK, great buffet with characters dressed in safari. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy
Crystal Palace-MK Buffet with Omelete and pancake bar, made to order. Pooh and friends.
Boma-AKL-Buffet no characters but great atmosphere
Cape May- Beach Club--great buffet with Mickie and Minnie and friends dress in beach attire.
'Ohana--Polonesian--Lilo and stitch. Family style, all you can eat. very good.
CRT is great for the atmosphere, but not for the food, food is just average and we have tried it twice and felt rushed. So for the money, I would have to pass.

Good Luck, where ever you choose, you will love it!:thumbsup2

We love breakfasts, too! We've done Boma and Tusker House. Both were yummy, and we're planning on doing them again this year. Hoping to add either 1900PF or Cape May to the mix.

I learned a very good lesson when I took our nieces this past January....in the future do all character breakfasts and CS for lunch and dinner...they loved the characters and they are starving in the am so they ate a lot of food, they love all breakfast foods, the price is cheaper and they are very cranky at the dinner table and they are picky with dinner foods...happy with pizza or chicken nuggets.

Thanks for all of your input. I do think we're going to try more breakfasts this time. The kids definitely eat more, especially my little guy, in the morning. And this will definitely cut back on the chicken nugget/french fry thing that we had going on twice a day for a week last time. The kids loved Sci-Fi for lunch and we love Ohana, so we'll try to get those in and fill in the other days with nice breakfasts.

Any other ideas of good breakfast place are appreciated. I can't wait! Only 6 more months...

On our last trip we did more breakfasts then dinners and we plan to do the same this trip. We prefer breakfast table service meals over dinners because we can go before the parks open and not have to worry about leaving or taking time from the rides/shows to go eat. It's a good way for us to start off our day too. Plus our son is a lot happier in the morning which makes for a more pleasant meal. I can't say the same after he's exhausted from being in the park all day.

I rarely do TS at dinner, usually lunch and occassionally breakfast. After a big, TS lunch, I'm ready for a little "down time". And the TS resturants are quieter, less hectic at lunch, while the CS resturants are quieter at dinner. I've gone in to a couple of CS resturants at dinner time and asked if they were open-there was no one there!

This. 8AM character breakfasts in-park are the best. (And a late breakfast at Ohana or Boma after sleeping in on a non-park day is fabulous.)

Plus, my kids are 9 and 7 and they're already little foodies. Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets every day just won't cut it with them, so I have to find lunch/dinner restaurants with 'real food' on the kid's menu. Not too many of those.

I typically prefer a big breakfast to start my day (it stays with you), small CS lunch and an early dinner (before 7 p.m.) and then time to wind down and get my spot for the night time entertainment:goodvibes

Breakfast meals are also better for those of us who are picky eaters and have a hard time finding things at the TS restaurants for dinner.

How ironic! DH and I were just talking about this last night. I just made our ADRs for August and I realized that this is the first trip for which I booked NO breakfasts. We have breakfast at Tusker House, Boma and Crystal Palace almost every time we go. I'm afraid I'll be going through Disney breakfast withdrawal! We had breakfast at Boma last weekend so that will have to hold me for a while!:tinker:

We are only doing one dinner in our 4 nights there. This will be our first time trying it this way. Normally most all of our TS meals are for dinner. Once our 21 month old (will turn 2 on our trip) gets a few years older, we may go back to doing more dinners.

We are doing The Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for lunch. We are having dinner at Ohana's one night. It's one of our favorites and we don't want to give that one up.

We always do more breakfasts at WDW. It is something I normally don't do at home, but I love getting up early to go to breakfast at WDW. I think it is more because I love the character breakfasts. I only booked two ADR dinners, we are going to wring the rest.:surfweb:
