Does anyone constantly make changes to their reservations?

Can you modify a reservation online using the DVC website, or do you have to cancel it and make a new one?

I was trying to do this today and couldn't figure out how, and I'm sure I have looked at doing this in the past!

On the DVC website you would have to cancel, then rebook...No ability to "modify" to the best of my knowledge...A MS can "modify" though!:)
It would be best IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH POINTS, to book before cancelling the original reservation...That always presents a problem for those who do not have enough points left, which leaves a 1 hour "gap" disadvantage between 8:00 on line bookings and 9:00 when MS opens...:sad2:

GOOD LUCK!:)

What happens if you make a change within the 30 days? Say, for instance, you are going for a short trip and staying 2 nights at BCV. 3 weeks before you go, you see a BLT open up for those exact dates (assuming you really wanted to stay there). Is there any risk from doing this?

Points go into holding and must be used to book something within a rolling sixty day timeframe. Those points expire at the end of your use year and cannot be banked.

It isn't as easy as just grabbing something you see. First you have to cancel your current reservation, then book the change. If anyone else grabs the room you're wanting while you do this, you cannot finish the transaction. And as soon as you cancel your current room, another member or a pending waitlist might grab it. You could be left with nothing and your points in holding.

This isn't theoretical, it has happened to many people who have reported it here before.

Summary- if you are someone who likes to change plans multiple times, particularly last minute, then owning points in DVC is not a good plan for you.

On the other hand, experienced timeshare owners on TUG have often reported that "gaming timeshare" is a lot like gambling. For some, the "thrill of the hunt" is more satisfying than the eventual travel.

So ... if you enjoy the "game" and the "hunt" ... timesharing can be a rather exciting roller coaster experience in and of itself! ::yes::

In timeshare-speak, I'm a gambler. An addict. And I'm happy.

So about a month ago we decided to go for a week at Christmas.

You can just think of how limited the choices were.

At one point I could have booked a room in every resort for one night each.

We wait listed and kept making changes and dropped the first 2 days to stay at US.

The only problem we had was getting 10-12 of those welcome letters explaining the new fast pass.

Such a waste of our dues.
