Does anyone collect antique photographs?

I just wanted to see if anyone else here was into photos from Victorian times, cabinet cards, cartes de visite, etc.

I have an antique photo album from the early 1900's full of photos from that era. I love them!

In redecorating my house I have bought a few that look like they may have been Victorian, but definitely turn of the century.

Is the photo album you have of family or something you picked up somewhere?

YES! I have a lot of very old photos from both my DH and my side of the family. Two are large old dygeriotype (sp?) of my great grandparents taken in the 1880's. I also have many other old family and wedding photos for all parents, grand parents, great grandparents and even great great grandparents! I use them in decorating. I am really lloking forward to using them in the new log home.

I also have hundreds of post cards and greeting cards that belonged to my great grandparents and were sent to them over the years. I don't have those displayed, but I LOVE reading them!

My grandma just passed away Sept. 20, and we have been cleaning out her house. She had a wall of old photos that I always loved! I took a couple pictures.........one is of her grandma & grandpa wedding portrait, so it is probably from about mid 1800's! We found a lot of other really neat old photos that we are going through...........so I am going to have some neat *new-to-me decorations* for my new house!!!!

almost all of my photos are of total strangers! I pick them up on ebay, antiques places, flea markets, etc. Usually its the women's clothes that catches my eye, I love clothes from the victorian era.

I have one old photo of my family: my greatgrandparents with my 2 greataunts (my grandmother's 2 older sisters) when they were little girls. It was taken before my grandmother and her younger sister was born. It was taken around 1919 and they are wearing big bows and high buttoned shoes!
