Does anyone actually like Alfredo's?

DH loves Italian food. Well, he loves Olive Garden and Carrabba's which I am sure isn't real Italian food. :) His favorite food actually is Fettuccine which I understand is the specialty. So who actually like Alfredo's? Good choice for a couple? Better at lunch or dinner or does it matter? I have heard some very bad reviews and wouldn't want to waste our money as we are not on the dining plan.

Thanks!

We had a great meal there. I'm something of an Italian food snob since I lived in Italy for 2 years. I found the food quite authentic. You might still not like it, but i think it's pretty authentic Italian. Have the gorgonzola if they still have it. YUM.

Buon Appetito! :)

We ate there last summer and we thought it was pretty good. I had the penne ala Vodka, soem kind of tomato and Mozzarella entrée(YUMMY) and tiramisu.

I remember it being a bit noisy and quite busy but we all enjoyed our meal and would not object to going back.

I think their fettuchini alfredo is outstanding - course, they invented the dish =) We went for that only; we wanted to try it without the 'cream' sauce we use instead. It was fabulous!

We also tried lasagna and it was just plain ol' lasagna - nothing unique.

It was worth a trip for the alfredo; I would go at lunch to get lower prices, personally, as the portions at dinner were quite small for the $$.

Portion sizes have very little to do with the menu price. :) Actually, generally, the finer (more expensive) restaurants have the more reasonable (smaller) portions. Have you ever seen how much food you get at the lower-priced TS restaurants, like Prime Time Cafe?

We love Alfredo's  It's our familiy's favorite restaurant in the world( the planet earth, not just WDW). However, if your DH loves Olive Garden, his mileage may vary. Maybe go for lunch? :earsboy:

We ate there and were very pleased and I'd also recommend Wolfgang Pucks Cafe in DTD (west side) - their pizza was scrumptious and DH got a vegetarian ravioli that was gorgeous!!! You can't go wrong with either of those. I also loved the pasta at Mama Melrose (MGM). :)

I love good Italian food, but I personally think that Alfredo's is akin to Chef Boyardee :sad2:

Chef Boyardee is better than the red sauce at Alfredos....YUCK. On the other hand if he thinks Olive Garden is good then maybe he wouldn't mind it! IMHO Olive Garden isn't very good either.Try it for lunch first:)

In all of our trips to WDW, we had never eaten there (until last summer). I am Italian, and a pretty decent cook (if I do say so myself). ;) So, of course I am quite picky when it comes to eating at an Italian restaurant. That being said, I actually like their Fettucine. The caesar salad and soup were good too. Their red sauce was absolutely horrible, and I would not disagree with the poster who likened it to Chef Boyardee! The place is indeed very busy, but we found the waitstaff to be AWESOME, very efficient (not to mention pretty easy on the eyes, :rolleyes1 ). We all split the dessert sampler and thought it was decent as well. All in all, not a bad meal. We are going back in August.

have to agree, we go for the Alfredo.

We went for the first time to Alfredo's for dinner in December specifically because DH loves fettucini and I wanted us to try it. We had a delicious dinner, make no mistake. But I honestly have had better fettucini. My late friend made it wonderfully from scratch -- the best "heart attack on a plate" I ever had. At Alfredo's I had a delicious chicken dinner with the fettucini as an appetizer I believe... I made my husband finish it...
I would say try the restaurant, but be cautious about going for a specific item -- it leaves you wide open for disappointment.
Good luck!

I don't know where the bad reviews are coming from, honestly. We eat there every time we go and absolutely love it. I must confess that I always get the calamari in marinara sauce, so I can't attest to how good the other dishes are. But the rest of my family all seem to be happy with there food as well. And we have always had excellent waiters. To each his own, I guess. It gets a definite thumbs up from me.

We loved Alfredo's (dinner on 4/25). We were on the Dining Plan, but we would go back with or without the dining plan. We do not like Olive Garden, but we do like Maggiano's (chain) and authentic Italian restuarants in the Philly area. We shared everything at Alfredo's...

Appetizers:
-Fettucini Alfredo (so yummy, very rich, the entree portion would have been too much)
-Mozarella alla Caprese- light, yummy, great balance for the fettucini

Entrees:
-Trittico di Pasta (lasagna, ziti, dumpling with truffle sauce)- lasagna good, ziti ok/boring, dumplings very rich and flavorful)
-Tagliolini with shrimp (amazing tomato cream sauce)

Desserts:
-Tiramisu (really good, and I'm not really a fan of Tiramisu)
-Chocolate Mousse (good, bittersweet)

I love Italian food and we LOVED Alfredo's. We make it a point to eat there every trip!

Ate there for the first time last year on the dining plan. We all loved it. Going back in August and there were a couple of restaurants I wanted to book that we haven't been to before. Tried to cancel our ADR's at Alfredo's, but the family wouldn't let me. We'll be dining there again this year. One of our favorites. :)

you take the good
you take the bad
you take them both and there you have
the facts of WDW dining life :teeth:

ok, I'm over my tv theme song phase :rolleyes1 .

I am glad to hear the good and the bad reviews of Alfredo's. Dh has picked this place to be our "adults night out" dinner during our October trip. I am excited to try someplace new.

We went for lunch, and it was FABULOUS. I too love Olive Garden, so I wasn't expecting haute Italian cuisine or anything. The Fettuccine Alfredo is, IMO, absolutely nothing like the Olive Garden version. It's much richer, more buttery, etc. And much more filling, needless to say. It was the best thing I ate all trip, probably. Below is a picture. It looks like it wouldn't be that much to eat, but I couldn't finish at least 1/3 of it because it is so rich. I can't wait to go back in 2 years! :woohoo:

Fettuccine Alfredo @ Alfredos is my ALL TIME FAVORITE! I never tried anything else there...I am hooked on it!

I also think the Wait Staff there is the BEST on WDW property!

It's MY MUST do everytime!

Enjoy

ps.....DONT ask for parmesean cheese for your Fettuccine Alfredo.
