I have taken glow sticks into the park for several years. But I was wanting something different, so i was wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to take a confetti cannon into the park? We will be celebrating the 4th of July and I thought it might be fun. The canon's are small and portable, they run off of compressed air but not sure if they would be considered "fire arms" . Does anyone have an answer for me before i call Disney?

I don't know the official answer, but I probably wouldn't do it because of the mess it would leave behind, and you don't want a panicked crowd when the thing goes off. If I heard it, depending on how loud it is, I might think "gun shot". :scared1:

Just a caution that calling Disney won't likely get you the correct official answer.

The "phone CM's" mostly know answers to resort and dining questions.

Due to MASSIVE crowds in the parks on July 3-5, I'd not want to take a chance on
filling someone's eyes with powered confetti. (Just sayin') ;)

these are not that big, and they're no louder than one of those pull string poppers. But I was thinking during the fireworks. Its is just a fun thought.

Thanks Robo. Maybe Ill stick to the glowsticks if I dont get any good answers. Just thought it would be fun, especially after we went to the Disney Rockin road show yesterday and all the kids were having such a blast with the confetti

Let me add it to my list of things to find out. I'll ask someone from security on Tuesday when I go to work.

My gut feeling is it would be a No but you just never know.

I don't know if it's Disney "legal" but I wouldn't take it. The parks are packed during New Years. We've been when it's shoulder to shoulder during the fireworks. It might be fun for you and your family, but there are other people to take into consideration. Those in your immediate vicinity may not find your confetti to be a lot of fun.

I would be SHOCKED if security allowed you to take any type of cannon into the parks

although it may seem safe to you, it is surely a safety hazard if misused

using compressed air to launch something into the air could easily be modified into some sort of weapon

also, what about all the trash?? would you pick it all up?

I can see an individual standing there with a full beverage cup and getting confetti in it thus spoiling the drink. If Disney released the confetti, it would be an "ha, ha, I got paper in my cup, silly me". But if that person saw another person putting out the confetti, I'm not so sure there wouldn't be a "hey! you ruined my drink! you need to buy me another one!". There's a big difference between if Disney World does something and a guest does something.

Another thing to think about is the "but she did it, so can I" factor. You do it one night and someone thinks it's a good idea so they bring their own the next night. It multiplies and now Disney has dozens of people bringing in their own confetti. Not the best thing to do.

I would say most likely no. The pop may scare someone, and cause a riot, it would make a lot of extra mess for a custodian to pick up, and you may upset another guest by getting confetti all over them. You could ask, but I bet they will tell you no.

How about bubbles? (Although someone's probably gonna chime in and say they could pop in someone's eye or create a slipping hazard.)

Funny you should say that. We sat next to a child with a bubble blower at a parade. The wind blew every one of those right into our faces. I finally had to ask them to stop. I was nice about it, but they should have taken my subtle hints and had him stop without me asking....

I hope you weren't thinking of something like this.

Because I don't think you'll get it past security. Though they do look cool. :thumbsup2

Seems like a bad idea to me.

Incidentally, while I have used glowsticks myself...it occurs to me that they can't be recycled. I've personally decided that I will generally try to limit use of them.

Yep, that's why we used to blow our bubbles off the back of the Disney Magic in the old days when we'd bring bubbles for sailaway (so they'd blow away from people and off the back of the ship). A good rule of thumb is that it's okay to bring/use something as long as it won't adversely affect others.

I know it seems to be fun, but I would not be happy if all the mess lands on me.
