Does AKL allow five in a room?

I would go to the cheapest room that allows 5 an then take an air bed or rent an extra cot. When we were at POR last year, occupancy was for 4, and we were within, but the beds were small and since my DS10 is tall we rented a cot. We've made a habit of bringing along an air bed everywhere we go, since WDW last year, just in case. We've used it almost everywhere, The Marriott Marquis in NYC, on LBI, NJ, also when we stayed at the Sheraton near Hershey. Just because the occupancy limit says 4 doesn't mean 4 people will be comfortable in the beds, and I assume the same could be said for larger families.

During our recent stay (returned home last Wednesday) I didn't think the AKL rooms were smaller then BC. We had a standard room at AKL and at BC and I found them to be about the same size, it seemed the same size as WL too. I don't know the sq. foot but they seemed to be about the same size rooms. ......

Sleeps 4, queen-size bed and full-size sofa bed. Flat panel TV and DVD. Wet bar, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, private balcony.


One-Bedroom Villas:
Value one-bedrooms sleep 4, other categories sleep 5. There is no sleeper chair in the Value category. The Master Bedroom has a king size bed, master bathroom with whirlpool tub. There is a queen-size sofa bed in living room. Flat panel TV and DVD player in living room, flat panel TV in master bedroom. Full kitchen facilities. Laundry area with stackable washer and dryer. Private balcony. Non-value one-bedroom villa is 710 sq.ft.


Two-bedroom Villas:
Five of these rooms are in the value category (945 sq.ft.). Each two-bedroom villa sleeps up to nine. Master bedroom suite with king-size bed. Flat panel TV and DVD player in living room, flat panel TV in master bedroom. Full kitchen facilities. Laundry area with stackable washer and dryer. Private balcony. Non-value two-bedroom villas are 1,075 sq. ft.

Grand Villas - one-story - all have Savanna view. Sleep up to 12.

Oh yes! That is cool! I forgot about DVC adding those sleep chairs at AKL. So they sleep five... that is good to know! Except for the value category, those are still only 4. I wonder if the other DVC resorts will start adding the sleep chairs? Interesting!!!

I recently listened to a podcast where they were interviewing someone from DVC. It was interesting. This question was asked and the response was it was being looked at to see how many people were using the sleeper chair and to see how it would fit into the older resorts.

A standard room fits the amount of people in your party, it's just the rules don't allow it. We've fit 4 adults and 2 three year olds (two families of 3) in each room comfortably. Just to clarify, they stayed with us until the evening and then went to their offsite hotel to sleep, however if they would have gotten too tired to drive or maybe drank too much, it would not have been a problem to accomodate them.

Animal Kingdom Villas 1 bedrooms DO SLEEP 5 PEOPLE but only in the Savanna View or Standard Categories (they have a chair that pulls out into a bed roughly the size of a roll away) but the VALUE ONE BEDROOMS do not sleep 5. Studios, regular rooms and Value One Bedrooms only sleep 4.

I also advise against bringing a 5th person over 3 (even if they're going to share a bed or try a roll away) for two reasons...

1. Due to the size of the room and the furniture arrangement, roll aways really don't fit.

2. If the 5th guest is over 3 and plans on using EMH they will not be able to get a resort ID!

We were very sad about this also. We ended up getting the 1 bedroom suite for just 2 nights. It was the only thing we could get and we really wanted to have a couple of nights at AKL.
