Does adding a second UY make sense?

Im not the OP but had the same question (thank you for asking). I’m trying to absorb the valuable info provided.

If I have two resorts with different UYs and I book at 7 months and I don’t have enough points in one contract, I should make two reservations with points from both contracts and ask at check-in for the reservations to be combined so I don’t have to change rooms. And this is as opposed to transferring points and having one reservation. Is that right? And better to borrow and bank within same contract as opposed to transfer?

Thank you all for your comments.

So, if I understand correctly, I will be able to access both UYs on ONE homepage. I will just have to manage each account, making sure I am booking under the correct UY for each seasonal trip.

I don't intend to transfer; I would rather bank.

If I book one week with two contracts (3 nites April UY for the front half and 3 nites xxxUY for the back half), I call MS and ask them to "link" them in a way so that I will not have to check out and check back in so that I can keep the same room.

It really doesn't sound that bad to manage. I just have to think if I'm traveling April-Oct, I use April UY contract. If I travel late Oct- March, I use the "other" UY (prob Oct I'm thinking, but could be Sept or Dec, depending on the contract).

It's not as easy to manage as one UY, but I don't risk the points going into holding or losing them

Now if I can just make up my mind before the ROFR monster wakes!

That’s what I prefer to do.

I do have MS note it on my reservations ahead of time and then when I arrive I check to make sure we are in the same room..if we were not then that would be the time they could fix it.

But, as I said, they have never forced us to move. It’s easier for them not to.

One quick follow-up... does this screw up the 60+10 day booking window... if I understand correctly, you wouldn't be able to book 10 days out on your second stay if they are merely linked, right?

It’s no longer 60 plus 10, but 60 plus length of stay. But, it does impact that…it’s two different windows,

We don’t book at lot of TS meals ahead of time so for us, it’s not that big of a deal.

I get it. We like TS as a break from the craziness of the day at the parks…but I also feel like since they shortened the cancellation penalty for table reservations a lot more opens up the day of—I was quite surprised by all the great options in the app last month, even on days with peak crowds.

My kids are finally almost old enough to do some of the enchanting extras, which is where every extra day of our stay might really count.

We just purchased our second contract last week. We have BCV with a Feb use year but normally travel every October (past the banking deadline). So when we added on we went with an August use year at VGF.

My thought had been just bank or borrow from each contract separately if needed rather than transferring the points.

You can do this on chat. I've done it tons. I call the front desk on morning of "check out" to double check. They've never made me move, they don't want to pay to clean the room.
Chat in the WDW app after checking in or chat with member services before arriving?

We stayed at PVB for spring break on our first ever DVC trip and it was extremely difficult to actually reach the front desk by phone…kept putting us to some remote central reservations staff with limited power to do anything.

Chat online with MS before you arrive.
