adding adult son via deed to my 2 contracts. we bought OKW in 1996!
will he get the grandfathered perks? discounts, discounted passes etc?

thanks

Any gratuitous transfer of an ownership interest, whether to add your son or give away the contract to someone else is not treated as a resale and thus the resale restrictions that will apply are only the ones already attached to the existing contract before the transfer, which for any 1996 contracts would be no resale restrictions.

I added my adult daughter to one of my contracts - it became a new, separate contract. She gets all the perks of direct ownership, but I am not able to combine the points with my other contract. This has caused a bit of trouble a couple of times. Going forward, I will have to do a transfer when the points are allocated. Just so you know -

When one contract has different owners from another contract, those contracts are in different memberships. So the contract your DD owns with you is in a membership separate from the contracts you own without her. And as you found out, the only way to combine points from two separate memberships is to transfer from one to the other. We added adult DD to both of our contracts, and we kept the same membership number. So, @Sheree, be sure to add your son to both of your contracts at the same time. Don’t plan to do one then the other later - we almost did that by accident.

yes I am adding him to both. not only do I wan to make things easier when I pass. if before 2042! but I'd like him and his eventual family to be able to use dvc and get whatever perks there are.

we bought when he was 2 and got free park passes with each reservation until 000. that was great!

I live in Canada. I added my adult son and daughter as joint tenants with rights of survivorship to all of my contracts. They are both in their 30s and established in their careers and lives. My thought was the same, if I expire before the contracts, I wanted them to be able to continue to use them and not have to go through probate in Florida. I used LT Transfers although there is a thread on the boards detailing how you can do it yourself. LT Transfers was easy to use and very prompt at answering my questions.
