Does a smell bring you back?

smells that remind me of disney:
sunscreen
aloe vera gel
certain flowers
chlorine from the pools

smells that I love at disney:
lobbies of Beach Club and AKL
splash mountain smell

This is my first post so forgive me if I get it wrong and ramble on a bit, ooops! I have started already!

Whenever I enter an air conditioned building which isn't very often here in chilly England, the smell transports me back to my holidays in Florida. The smell which I think is a little like coffee is enough to make me feel like I am at Downtown Disney on a warm summer night. I also agree about the popcorn a definite memory jogger of the MGM studios for me.

This summer DBIL was grilling chicken using some type of mesquite mix seasoning. It smelled just like the lobby of AKL! It smelled so good and brought back such great Disney memories that I didn't even want to eat the chicken. Secretly, I wanted to bring it home and sniff it as I looked through my photo album from our stay at AKL, but I figured DH would have me commited if I did that! :crazy2:

WELCOME, Piggerandtiglet! :flower:

DH and I have set this up deliberately. Before a trip I went to Bath & Body Works and chose a fragrance that I *thought* would be around for a while (lavendar). We used the shower gel the entire trip and I also used the spritzer. When we got home we put it away for about 3 months before bringing it out again. WOW!!! We got a zinger of a Disney wake-up! It was wonderful! Alas, they discontinued the fragrance and I haven't done it since. I've been too afraid they would discontinue it again and we'd be back in the same boat.

My mom bought me a set of Victoria's secret jasmine and something else lotion, shower gel, etc for a wedding shower and I brought it with me on my honeymoon..that was eight years ago and jasmine STILL reminds me of WDW!

Others:
Kettle corn popped in the microwaves at work remind me of Main street
Sunscreen and/or chlorine
Calvin Klein Escape...smells like the women's fragrance in Norway
Any musty smell makes me think about POC or SplM
Coconut/pina colada reminds me of SAB at the BC...yum!!!
Yankee Candle in Christmas Wreath is 100% Disney Christmas to me...love it!!
Cinnamon nuts at the mall during Christmastime remind me of the candied nuts at Epcot.

Ah....scent memories....

I have a friend that wears the cologne(I can't remember the name) from Norway pavilion. Every time we're hagging out it reminds me of WDW.

gottgodisney..I know just what you mean...the water in some of the resorts smells like that too..that kinda metaly chloriney smell...sometimes I smell that water smell and I think of splash mt

There are so many smells that remind me of WDW,but the main one is oranges. The orange smell from the old Horizon's at Epcot will always be with me; it was a favorite ride for our family and the orange smell was something we always joked about.

Our family plays a game around the smells of WDW all the time.It is so funny how one person smells something and squeels to the other family members" what does this remind you of?" We all know they mean somewhere in WDW.This game keeps us sane until our next visit :)
Some of our favorites are
*the monorail
*Orlando airport as soon as you get off the plane "OOOOH we're here"
*the burning of Rome smell in Spaceship Earth
*The smell of FW woods the entire property has a great smell
*chocolate chip cookies on Main St
* BTMRR
*SM
and of course the diesel of the buses.

Well that just revived my memories of WDW.Thank goodness we head back in 45 days
Heidi

As stated in other posts the smell of oranges reminds me of Horizon's. I miss that ride so much.

Whenever I hear a public transportation bus pulling away it reminds me of Disney World. I grew up in an area where public transportation buses were not very common so whenever I heard one it brings me back to Disney.

The check-in lobby of Old Key West has a smell that I can't explain , but every once in a while it comes back to me. My family thinks im crazy
::yes::

Our second trip when we 1st stayed at POR has been my all time favorite trip-I think because my Grandmother sent us. I never had the chance to share the trip with her because she passed away a month before we left. I bought some lotion that was an Orange-Mango fragrance at the Rainforest Cafe which has since been discontinued but I keep the empty bottle and every once and awhile I open it and smell it just for the memory. It really takes me back and makes me smile. :flower:

My husband and my kids think Im crazy butwe live in Ct. and have gone to Foxwoods and the inside when you walk in smells just like the Wilderness lodge, the lodge has just a distinct smell and it takes me back.

The smell of cedar logs at the check-in desk at Fort Wilderness...ah, heavenly!

It's been mentioned already, for us it's the smell from the food cooking in Boma at the AKL. The smell in the lobby is heavenly.

Every once in a while, we may catch an aroma of something similar near a restaurant, and we immediately look at each other and think of WDW. In fact, I can smell it right now!

We'll be able to smell it for real in only 19 more days!

<Raises hand> Hi, my name is Sarah and I've been rolling down my car window as I pass the airport for 6 years now!

Seriously, the diesel gets me every time and you cannot imagine how glad I am to not be the only one

I always thought CBR had a distinctive smell. DBF thought I was nuts when I took him on his first trip in 2004. Now, who's addicted?! :scratchin Thanks, Terribm for mentioning Plumeria. I am headed to the mall tomorrow to check it out! :flower3:

I've posted to this thread already but reading everyone's response has jarred more memory scents for my senses!

Scents I love:
The lobby of the Coronado Springs
Hawaiian Tropics sun tan lotion
Chlorine from the Pools
Popcorn
and the summer heat (I always go in August)

The smell of my luggage ---

It was brand new when we went and some of it still has that "new" smell and when ever I get a whiff of it -- I am right back at Disney

Everytime I smell Kona coffee, I think of the Poly and that happy little cart (next to Kona cafe, remarkably) I would always stop at in the am to grab a most perfect cup of brew.
