Does a 3 year old really need a ticket?

You can justify what you are doing with any reason under the sun, but it really boils down to this: no matter what you say about it or how you justify it you in fact ARE stealing. I am personally not ok with stealing from anyone, and even less so with having my child participate in stealing. Stealing eventually trickles down to hurt everyone else who wants to enjoy the parks. I am not ok with doing that to someone else. The fundamental question you need to ask youself before doing this: Is the money I am saving worth knowing that I am stealing and causing others to pay higher prices, and teaching my children that it is ok to do so? I personally cannot live with that.

theft is theft..

And I'll tell you what I told t'other person. Look up the definition before using words that you evidently dont know what they mean

Nothing dramatic about it. Teaching children to steal and lie is very low. I think everyone who supports this should get points or banned.

Bwha ha ha ha

Theres nothing like good old irony is there. The old Im not being dramatic while coming out with something as OTT as that last line of your sentence.

At the risk of repeating myself, look up the term theft and stealing. Get back to me when you do.

Ask any cop about theft by deception. It's still theft.

Yes, that was dramatic. On purpose.

Are the moderators on vacation or something? Between this thread and the AP thread, I don't know which one is worse. CLOSE THE THREADS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW DIS GUIDELINES ALREADY!!!

:sad2: WOW! and I can't believe that after 7 pages, the mods are still letting a thread like this go on. I wonder how much longer until the lock is on the page? :confused3

I know what the definitions are, and this is still theft. Legal definitions nad what you get from the dictionary are two very different things. You can be prosecuted for theft of services, which is what this is. It is the same as skipping out on the check at dinner, or a hotel bill, or not paying your hairdresser. You are not paying for services rendered and use of the facilities. Next time you decide to be condescending, try someone else. I realize you are not in the US. You might also try looking at both US and Florida legal code regarding theft. I gurantee you that if Disney chose to press charges FOR THEFT they would win unless the parent could produce proof the child was under 3.

You should have took your own advice and not tried to be a smart @rse. The OP wanted to know

Will the cast members at the entrance ask her age or for proof of her age? I'd like to not have to buy a ticket for her until our passes come up for renewal in December...

The OP hasnt said anything about lying. They are hoping that they wont get asked. Therefore if the CM doesnt ask for the age and willfully lets the family in without a ticket they have done nothing wrong nor have the stolen, nor have they lied. In short, get off your soapbox.

she asked and I answered. IT IS STEALING AND NOT OK. PEROID. No smart a** about it. Some people just don't like to be told what they already know:whay they are doing is wrong. There is no justification for stealing form someone. A lie by omission is still a lie ,and if they get caught without a ticket for an over age child they can be prosecuted wether the CM at the gate asked about it or not. They were informed of the rules when the purchased their tickets, and are subject to them. At the very least, they will likely get their AP's revoked if they get caught.

I will break it down into small managable chunks for you.

If the family roll up at the gate and the CM waves them through without the childs tickets then they have done nothing wrong.

They have not stolen.

They could not be prosecuted for theft.

The CM by not asking for the ticket, ID or the age of the child has assumed (incorrectly) that they are the required age for free entry and allowed them in.

. A lie by omission is still a lie ,.

The gauntlet was thrown down before. Have you ever lied. If so, stop being a hypocrite. And dont even try to tell me that you have never ever told a lie so stop critisising others for not offering up the whole truth.

no, they cant. They were permitted to go in by the CM.

I'm sorry, but you are flat out wrong. WDW policy on who needs a ticket is both posted at the ticket counter and printed on the tickets. By using the tickets they agree to abide by the policy and are legally bound by it. They CAN be prosecuted for theft. They could be prosecuted for fraud if they actually lied about the child's age to a CM, but theft of services still stands regardless of wether they were asked or not.

They CAN be prosecuted for theft. .

No they cant because they havent stolen anything and were permitted to use the facilities by the CM who let them in. If I rolled up with nothing but the shirt on my back, no dollars and no tickets whatsoever and someone let me in by their mistake I COULD NOT BE PROSECUTED FOR THEFT.

They could be prosecuted for fraud if they actually lied about te child's age to a CM, but theft of services still stands regardells of wether they were asked or not.

However the example in the OP didnt mention this. This was a tangent that other people went off at. The OP only wanted to know if they would ask for the childs age or just let them in.

Of course i have lied. Everyone has, and i am not afraid to admit it. I am also not trying to justify that it is ok to do so. i accept responsibility for doing something I know was not right. That is what I have a problem with. The idea that it somehow less wrong to lie to Disney about a child's age. It is still a lie.

The child doesnt have a ticket so there is nothing to be bound to. The child has been let in for free.

Whether disney choose to get @rsey and revoke the AP's if the find out is up to them, however there would be absolutely zero chance of any prosecution if the CM failed to ask the age of a child and waved them in on the assumption they were the correct age. That is the fault of the staff. We arent talking about the parents throwing the kids over the fence here to get them in.

So then by your own definition you lack any morals and values. If its ok to say that to the OP and anyone who has supported them then you are no different. Both cases involve being economical with the truth.

Wouldn't it be better to just buy the ticket and not have to live with the fear everyday when you go to the park. After all it's not that much money compared to the cost of the total vacation and a vacation that can be enjoyed by not always looking over your shoulder or hoping the older child doesn't hear you tell a mis truth. Good luck and enjoy your vacation what ever you decide.

No popcorn needed, nothing fishy. Simply trying to find out if I can postpone buying another ticket until December when passes come up for renewal.

I understand your question...b/c your 3 yr old's pass would not be up for renewal at the same time as the rest if you bought it now. Also, if you spend a few hundred on a park ticket now, you won't be able to credit that towards an AP in December. You are stuck btwn a rock and a hard place. Personally, I would prob not buy the ticket, only if I were truely planning to renew the whole family and buy an AP in December for the 3 yr old. JMO.

Shouting the same thing over and over isn't helping. Look up the legal statutes in Florida regarding theft of services, and look at the precedent cases if you don't believe me. It has been successfully prosecuted before. I don't know how else to explain this other than to tell you to do the reading yourself. You have apparently been misinformed by someone on the subject, and nothing I can say will convince you other wise. Perhaps seeing it in an offical publication will help.
