For a child with a bad cough? I'm thinking it could be bronchitis, I have to take her to the Dr tomorrow. SHe is getting that raspy voice and her cough seems to be getting "deeper" now.

I would just give her Childrens Tylenol and a child's cough medicine. If she starts to get bad during the night, take her in the bathroom, close the door, turn the shower on hot and let it steam up the bathroom if you don't have a vaporisor.

{{HUGS} to her.

I have the cool mist humidifier going(which the dr said to do) and I have been giving her the childrens sudafed cold and cough liquid stuff. I have to call the dr in the am and then bring her in, but I am trying to help her thru the night.

If it keeps her up tonight, try cough drops and hot water with lemon and honey to make her stop coughing. Also let her sleep in a recliner or propped up on several pillows. If she finds something that makes her stop coughing, don't make her get up and brush her teeth. It's gross, but her teeth won't rot out over night, and brushing her teeth might be enough to tickle her throat and start the whole thing over.

I would only treat symptoms that are making her simply too miserable to get to sleep. Coughing and sneezing and even running a slight fever are ways that the body heals itself.
