Just my usual quarterly check up. Because I've had my thyroid removed, they like to keep watch on that. Since the gallbladder surgery I've been really tired and, honestly, it's been getting worse not better. Come to find out, it's the thyroid that's making me feel so run down. The surgery may have caused my levels to fluctuate. I've also been cold! That's another thyroid symptom.

Hopefully after a few weeks with an increase in my thyroid meds I'll be more energetic. Feeling totally washed out all the time stinks!

Oh, and it's back on oatmeal for lunch. My cholesterol went up, up and away since dropping that as part of my diet. :(

Now ain't getting old fun? :confused3

I can understand the how you feel. I go to the Dr. next week to discuss removing my thyroid. Frankly, I can't wait. I am tired of being tired all the time. I want my hair to stop falling out...lol I want to stop gaining weight. I want to be "happy" again. How long ago did you have your thyroid out? and how did they do it? Because I have a ds5 they told me I couldn't be around him for 3 days while they give me the meds to kill the thyroid.
Good luck getting back to "normal" it's a great feeling when it kicks in.

I had my thyroid removed nearly 7 years ago. Some nodules were found during a totally unrelated test (a cervical spine MRI). The biopsy was inconclusive.

I'm sure there are people on this board who have had their thyroid removed and found the surgery to be a breeze. Mine was not the case. It was dreadful. I had massive neck swelling, question of a heart attack (not thyroid related) and spent 3 days in ICU. The only good news was that the growths they spotted were NOT cancerous.

My levels have been fairly well controlled for quite a while now. The doctor I saw today couldn't think of another reason for them to elevate except for the recent gallbladder surgery.

Yup, can't wait to not feel tired all the time. :)
