Doc Says I have the Swine Flu!!

I thought I was just coming down with cold a couple of weeks ago, with a sore throat and some stuffiness. Then during the night the body aches kicked in and a mild fever. I took dayquil or nyquil to relieve the body aches every 4 hours and I felt pretty good after 36 hours. But that darn sore throat lasted for about a week. I went to the doctor and she didn't think I had H1N1 because my symtoms were similar to hers and she tested positive.

I personally think I had it, but how can you ever tell for sure?

I almost never get sick, but had a 'cold' a couple weeks ago. It was just a scratchy throat, skin/joint aches, mild fever and general tiredness. I was more or less over it in 3 days, but continued to cough for a week. I thought it was just a cold, but how can you tell for sure? DH is convinced I had H1N1, but my sickness was so mild that I didn't go to the dr. to confirm.

I had a low fever. When I went to doc it was 99.2

I forgot to mention, my mucles ached a littled.

He said day 4 or 5 a lot of people get diarha(sp?) or upset stomach. I had a little upset stomach.

I love Target!! Roll me in on a stretcher!!:worship:

I was told (rather condescendingly) that 99.5 is NOT a fever. 100.7 IS a fever. It seems the docs are geared up to keep everyone from getting hysterical over swine fever, downplaying it waaaay to much.

That is not what I heard. I read that the H1N1 flu vaccine was expected to have the same complications as the regular flu vaccine. Here is a link to the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/vaccine_safety_qa.htm

Do you have a link to what you have read?

Thanks for posting that link! :thumbsup2 I've just been reading bits and pieces of info here and there and didn't save any links. I am saving that one though and the links it listed. I guess what people are worried about is the thimerosal because of what it can do to your nervous system and kidneys.

Is ibuprofen an NSAID? I have read (and no, I don't have a link) that NSAIDs should be avoided with the swine flu.

Man, I wish my H1N1 was like the OPs. Today is day 12 and I still don't feel good. I had a high fever (that wouldn't come down with Tylenol) for 4 days, along with body aches, chills, and a horrible barky, painful cough. I still have the cough. And I never get sick. Our whole house was sick for over 2 weeks.

I sympathize with you. I went to the doctor last Thursday, so it's been a week and a day. I've still got a temp that comes and goes (only 100 now though as opposed to 104 at the start). I went back to the doctor today, and she recommended that I not go back to work Monday since I've developed some bronchitis too.
