Do your pets have quirks?

Our beloved Boo, our big 100lb. lab mix whom we had to put to sleep four years ago:( loved big rawhide bones. But before she'd eat them, she'd stand in front of you with it in her mouth, prancing and wagging her tail until you took it out of her mouth and pretended to take a bite! We'd say, "Mmmmm, Boo, it's soooo yummy!" Then we'd give it back to her, and she'd run upstairs and start chewing on it. She wouldn't budge until she "shared" her bone with you!

Our long-gone:( cat, Misha, had a drinking-straw fettish. If you had a straw in your drink and left it unattended for a split second, he'd run up and steal it and put it in his food dish. Only straws, never anything else.

Our 11 year-old Chihuahua, Cookie, has so many quirks that she's on anti-anxiety medication (Puppy Prozac). She has a series of rituals that she does in a certain order before she goes to bed for the night!

What quirky things do your pets do?:)

My Lab likes to stare in the mirror at himself. He turns his head from side to side, the whole while looking out of the corners of his eyes at himself. After about 25 seconds he wags his tail at what he sees, admires himself a little more, then walks away. :p

He eats whole fruits and vegies, but for some reason he likes to toss red apples around before eating them, like he's playing catch by himself or something. He doesn't do it to yellow apples, or pears, only the red apples.

Oh yeah, and he LOVES to have his picture taken. When you get the camera out he runs and sits down in front of you until you take his picture.

One of my parakeets loves to hang upside down from the roof of his cage, like a bat.  :teeth:

My cat, when I was growing up, would circle the house if there was an animal outside. He would look out the window in the family room for a few seconds, then run to window in the kitchen, then run upstairs to my parents' bedroom window, then back down to the family room. He would do this for 20 minutes. Sometimes, there wasn't even an animal out there. He was very cute, but not very smart.

My hamster, Pooh, is one crazy little guy. Whenever I put on Elton John's music he stops, gets on his two little back feet, stares at the CD prayer and just listens. He only does it with Elton John music, so strange but just adorable! :p

minnie do a cute grrs when mom hands her over to me
she like apples she plays with her cookie

honey my cat she meow when i do a fake or real sneeze she comes to me like a dog her she likes to play with minnie

floppy protectie and likes to play

jessie a food dog and lazy dog

boomer is my moms cat a mean cat both broomer and honey hides from strangers and kids

One of my doggies does this thing every night just about when it's time to go to bed where she looks around the house for any socks that are lying around and she tries to carry as many as she possibly can in her mouth (stuffed ALL the way in!). Then she parades around the house to show her accomplishment off to anyone who'll watch. Admittedly, we egg her on since it's so cute! Weird, but cute!

It's hilarious trying to watch her get them all out of her mouth. She sleeps with all the socks she's gathered. No desire to eat or chew on them, just to carry them around and sleep with them!

Yep. Rumpleteazer will only eat her food if she can pick it out of the bowl one piece at a time. It's a habit left over from when we also had a huge black cat named Precious who was very protective of her food. Both cats ate from the same bowl and it was the only way Rumpleteazer could get any food.

My cat sits in the bathtub. Whenever I go in there, she runs in, jumps in the tub and stares at the faucet. Then she'll look at me, meow, and look back at the faucet. She'll only drink running water, so I think that's where this comes from. I have to warn guests when they go in there to make sure she's not hiding behind the shower curtain!

I have one cat that has very long whiskers. If his whiskers can touch the bottom of the food bowl, he will cry and meow at me until I fill the bowl. (Doesn't matter if there is a tiny bare spot on the bottom of the dish, if his whisker touches it, the bowl is just not full enough for him.)

I have another one who LOVES chocolate pudding... the 'snackpack' kind. He will wrestle the kids for it!

I have one who thinks he is a dog, and as a kid had a cat that would come when I whistled to her. She was a sweetie. She loved nothing better than an ice cold glass of water. She would drink out of them, so we learned to not put them down and walk away.

Where do I begin ;)

Milo, our Corgi, bites the door knob whenever one of us leaves the house.

Maggie, our Yorkie, bites our feet whenever we walk outside with shoes on.

Both bark when we go into the bathroom to take a shower. If you just go to the bathroom...they don't bark. But if they see you take clothes in the bathroom to shower, they bark.

When Milo barks or growls, Maggie barks or growls no matter what room she is in even if she doesn't know what's going on (and normally she doesn't!)

My cat, Zamboni, can be anywhere in the house but when she hears me singing or whistling, she will run up to me and attack. First she meows, rubs my legs, and then CHOMP!

Couldn't be my singing voice could it??

Our older dog will only eat in the dining room. Her food dish has always been in the kitchen, but her whole life, she picks up a big mouthful of food, walks about 5-6 feet into the dining room, drops it on the floor where she will eat it. If you give her a treat she always carries it to the dining room to eat.

Our younger dog is one of those dogs you see who loves to hang out the car window. We don't let her do it on busy road or the freeway, we keep it open just a few inches and she sticks her nose out as much as she can. If the window is closed she whines and pouts.

Whenever I get my dog Cody a rawhide bone, he has to carry it around with him where ever he goes for weeks before he'll eat it. I wish I knew what was going through his mind. I gave him a big bone for Christmas, he didn't eat the thing until the end of January. It never leaves his side, he takes it outside and brings it back in with him, he sleeps with it (usually under his chin), he just won't eat it until it's 'aged' a little. Strange.

As for my other dog Jesse, well Jesse doesn't even realize he's a dog. I've bought him toys, he looks at me like I've lost my mind.

Before we got Cody my cat would play fetch with me for forever, Jesse would just watch her like she was the world's stupidest animal, now he looks at Cody like that when he plays fetch.

I have a 10-year-old silver tabby who likes to lick plastic bags.

I have a 2-year-old orange tabby who pulls out his hair (the vet can't find a reason - no fleas, no skin disorders, no trauma - nothing.):confused3 (I think it maybe the plastic licking is driving him insane)

Cutie Pie (cat) is the designated Food Monitor. He will come and tell me when it's time for the other cats to get their wet food. Cutie Pie doesn't even eat wet food so I can't figure out why he cares.

Cutie Pie also gets freaked out by my toes when it's summer. I guess he's used to them being covered up.

Sassy (cat) eats rice pudding off a spoon. She'll eat anything off a spoon but rice pudding is her fave.

Rascal (cat) has a stuffed alligator that is his baby. He carries it everywhere, grooms it and then sometimes will throw it up in the air and bat it around.

Rascal is also scared of thunderstorms. He'll hide in my desk.

Rascal and Cutie Pie love running water and will drink out of the bathtub. Both boys love to get water on their head.

Bear (cat) loves the sound of her own voice and will talk all day long. She's also the defender of the house. She attacks our poor dog.

Ace (cat) bites fingers when she wants you to pet her. Ace also has top play with the ring from the milk jug. It's hers and no one else can play with it.

My 8 year old silver does the same thing, and I have a 4 year old orange who pulls his fur out as well! Maybe they are related!:p

Cutie Pie pulled all the hair near the base of his tail out. He had a bald heiny for awhile. Not sure why he did that.

Rascal LOVES to lick plastic bags too.

My Smokey (Blue Point Siamese) loves to lick envelopes (glue side) and photo's too! My Orange (Yoshi) is a tiny thing, only weighs about 7 lbs. In our house, that is kitten sized! :D
