Do your parents have rules about body modification?

How badly did your tattoo hurt? I want to get mine on my foot, but I hear it's one of the most painful spots to get one.

My feet are seriously all skin and bone, and I'm scared it's gonna hurt real bad. I want to get a tat on the top of my foot, like yours, but closer to my ankle bone, and off to the side slighty.

Well, I went in thinking it was going to be the worst pain of my life. In reality, it was a 10 minute continuous cat scratch. The were a few parts where I could feel it vibrating on my bone, but it felt kinda good actually, lol. I would soooo do it again. I liked the pain but I'm weird like that.
If there's no pain when you get a tattoo, what's the fun? It releases adrenaline, piercings don't.

Oh, and my feet are so bony you can see my tendons move with every little twitch.

I don't really know about my parents.

Right now I've got two holes in my lobes. My first are from when I was 9 and they're now 14g holes (I want to go to a 12 or a 10g) and the second ones I got two years ago and they're a regular earring. I've got one in my cartilage that I did myself three years ago. Mom only flipped out a little at the cartilage-- and even then only because I did it myself.

I'm planning on getting a tatto this month for my 18th birthday. I'm gonna have my brother-in-law do it. I'm not positive what I'm getting yet, but I'm leaning heavily towards a set of Hermes' Wings on my ankles.

I never was into getting anything done besides my ear. I don't particulary like needles lol.

My parents are very lenient. Like I have asked just to see what they would say and they are not totally for it but basically I would have to pay for it myself, and if it gets infected I have to pay for all of that too to fix it. So yeah.

im not really sure what would be allowed.

i have two holes in each ear, and thats all that i want. no point in asking for more.

My tattoo was my 16th birthday present. No car, no Sweet Sixteen party, nothing. I came home from school, got my tattoo, went home, and had some cake. Aside from some trinkets and money from family and friends, it was my only present. It was only $70 as it's rather small, but it's worth it.
I'm barely 16 1/2 and I'm seriously, seriously thinking about going to get another tattoo. My parents don't really mind anymore, actually. My dad has 2, my mom has none. The rule used to be "no tattoos", then I convinced my parents to let me get one. Now my dad says since the rule is broken, tattoos are okay. ;)

how did you convince your parents??

I got cancer. My tattoo is a gold ribbon for childhood cancer, reminding me that if I can beat cancer, I can do anything. Without that, I can pretty much guarantee you my parents would've said no.

I find it really weird as my parent's are bugging me that I don't have a tattoo or any piercings...then they would be happy if iI rebelled in anyway, which I won't be haha.

Ok, good. I can handle a cat scratch. lol
I don't mind needles, or gettings shots. But I just heard that foot tattoos are super painful. So thanks for the info!

I don't think my parents have any rules about that (probably because I never asked, except for earrings). Not sure if they'd want me to get a tattoo though. I got my ears pierced years ago. Not sure if that counts?

I once wanted one of these:

Lol, don't ask. I thought they were cool. But I only liked the idea for about a day. Then I hated it. It looks so gross and painful :c.
No offense to anyone who has one. I'm glad I didn't get one.

Ew :O
Those are the kinds of things that make me think what the hell are people thinking sometimes?!

That looks like it would hurt so bad, even after the piercings healed. What if something snagged one of the ribbons and it pulled?!
Ugh..I'm shivering just thinking about it...

*shudders*
corset piercings scare the hell out of me.
if somebody were to like... pull the string it would rip all the piercings out and that would be nasty beyong belief. :scared:

No rules in my house.
My dad has tats, so that would be pretty hypocritical.

I have none yet though, and only my ears pierced.
But if I wanted anything done I wouldn't be stopped, I'd just obviously have to pay for it myself.

I have a tat planned that I really want, it's actually to honour my grampa (who is still alive) but I think if I showed him he'd freak! hahaha

Caitlin, I've said this before. It's so sweet you want to get a tattoo to honour your grampa. (:

I have my ears pierced, like, normally. Only the once.
I've never thought about having them piecered again, or having any other piercings really.
Tattoos.. well, in the very distant future, I would love to have something in memory of my grampa. He was a real big part of my life, and he had tattoos as well.
Both my cousins have tattoos. One has an indian chief on his shoulder, and his parents were against it when he had it, but learned that once it was done, he couldn't undo it.
My other cousin has a flower on her back, which she hates, and a dolphin on her foot.
My parents were happy for me to get my ears pierced, and my mother has her own ears pierced twice, so yeah.
If I do want anything else done, I'm sure I'd have to work on my dad more than anyone.

My mom is highly against tattoos. She's always saying that they're not worth it, because they start to sag and look gross as you get older.

And she doesn't like the idea of getting more than one piercing on people's ears done either. She says that any more than that "just looks tacky".

I agree.

I've never really discussed it with my parents, so I'm not sure. I would never want to get a tattoo or peircings anywhere other than my ears.
I got my first hole peirced in 3rd grade and my second in 6th grade.

Old lady ringing in here!!

I have a 16 yo son. No tatts--yet, and a single ear pierced. I am not totally against tatts, but I think you have to be careful what you get put on in permanent ink. I told my son if we let him get a tattoo at age 3 he'd be forever struggling to hides a big ole Barney on his forearm from the guys in the football locker room. So, what's to say the tatt you get today won't be an embarrassment 10-15 years down the road?

I have a client--about 22 years old. When he was 15 he got a revolver inked onto his inner forearm. Figured he'd be a Gangsta' 4 life. Now, he's in college--engineering program and goes to great lengths to hide that tatt. I never see him in anything but long sleeved shirts anymore.

That being said, I am toying with the idea of a celtic cross on my anke. But, not until my son turns 18! ;)

I have only had my ears pierced once & that's when I was a baby. I want to get my second ones done but I'll probably have to pay for that myself unless it's for a birthday or something. I want my cartilage done too, I actually had the chance to when I was like 11, but I chickened out. I REALLY want my belly button pierced, but my dad is totally against it. I've been asking him for 2 years now & it's always a "Heck no!" My mom doesn't really mind it, but since my dad won't allow it I can't get it done. At one point I actually wanted a Monroe piercing, but my mom flipped when I told her. So that was out of the question.

As for tattoos I don't really care for them on myself. I may get one someday, but it would stand for something special to me. I don't like when people get tattoos of freaking dragons & stuff like that. But that is just me, they can get whatever they choose to get. My dad has 2 tattoos of Native Americans of both of his arms, because that's one of his nationalities. I don't fnd much interest in tattoos though.

My idea for the tattoo I want is pretty simple, and I don't think I'd ever regret it.

I call my grampa 'P' and I want to get the tattoo artist to trace his 'signature' off one of my birthday cards and get that tattooed on me behind my ear.
SO it's really personal to me and I don't think I'd ever regret it because it's just one letter and it means so much to me.
(he's survived cancer twice and he's one of the most important people in my life so I want to get something to honour it)

Awe that's a great idea. See I like when people get tattoos that mean something special like that. It's cute.

I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 9 because my parents wanted me to decide for myself if I even wanted them pierced.
I really really want a tattoo but I want it to be something I'm not going to regret in 50 years....my best friend's mom has a ton of tattoos and they all are really sweet and they all have meaning but I still can't help thinking that I would still regret all that ink when I'm old :confused3

I think I might get something on the back of my neck, so that it's kind of discreet....but I kind of want to be able to see it.....:goodvibes
My parents don't care what I do after my 18th birthday....so I have 2 years to wait
