Do your kids like pork roasts?

I need to come up with a family-friendly meal to deliver to a local mom who is going through cancer treatments. The kids are 12, 10 and 6. They don't like anything spicy like tacos and they've had their fill of casseroles. They want basic dinners.

My kids love pork roasts and I was wondering if that's typical. I'm thinking roast, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, rolls and veggies. Plus dessert (any suggestions? Not brownies).

I'm not great at gourmet meals but I can whip up some good basic meat and potatoes!

My kids, all 5 of them, love pork roasts. I think that is a wonderful idea and so thoughtful of you! Maybe your kids could make some colorful cards or pics to send along.

I did a pork roast dinner for a family in that situation a couple of years ago and they loved it. They were ready for a "basic" dinner too. Maybe a pie for dessert - that would be a great ending to a great meal!

Pork roasts/chops are a great idea! They don't have to have a lot of spice to be flavorful, so the kids should be happy.

Good for you for helping out!

My kids (4 and 5) love pork - especially roasts. I think it's a great idea!

Actually both of my love pork roast. Even my oldest who has been known to take one look at the dinner table & announce he isn't hungery:mad: I would say it would be a welcomed treat. (My youngest would drown it in BBQ sauce - even if I cooked the roast in gravy - but he eats it.)
What about one of those new cobbler in box desserts - they are good. If you are feeling extremely generous & transporting isn't an issue, you could add a container of ice cream for cobbler ala mode. Now I'm hungery & I think I'll throw a pork roast in the crock pot.

I'm making a pork roast for next Sunday--the kids (age 5 and 2) love it, their aunt (me) doesn't!

Peas & carrots for the veggie? (that what my dad wants) How about apple pie for dessert? Apples and pork go together.

My nieces and nephews LOVE pork. Whenever we go to Hawaii they get off the plane chanting, "We want pig!" Roasted pork (Kailua Pig) does taste ever better over there.

My kids like pork roast. I'm the only person I know who doesn't really care for it plain. (I won't eat it unless it's spiced or cooked in sauerkraut, but I know you're not doing that.)

If you don't want to do a pie (which sounds great) how about fruit salad. It's pretty easy to put together, but most people I know only do it for special occasions so it would be a treaet.

What a nice thing for you to do! I'm sure they'll appreciate whatever you choose to bring.

Yes - my whole family loves them. Another good idea is a ham - kids usually love it and great for leftover sandwiches.

Yep...all 6 of my kids love pork roasts! In fact...we traditionally make pork and sour kraut with mashed potato's for New Years day and that is their favorite meal!

My kids love Pork Roasts!! What a very nice thing to do for that Mom and her family!! :)
