have more fun planning your WDW vacation, or actually being there?

The reason I ask this is because some of us (myself included) will plan our WDW vacations for a year or more ahead of time, and once we get there the sadness begins to set in because you just don't want the "MAGIC" to end. :guilty:

Have you experienced this same feeling?

I definitely find that planning the trip is a huge part of the fun for me. It just makes me anticipate the trip that much more. For me, personally, I find the more pre-planning I do, the more I enjoy the trip and the magic.

The sadness always kicks in the last day full day and night of my trip, but since lately, there's always another trip in the works, that's not too big of a deal for me.

Now if only I could find a way to be independently wealthy so I can go to Disney World whenever I want...

To me, planning is the next best thing to being there. But once I'm there, I refuse to allow the reality that the trip will end to interfere with my enjoyment. Part of being at WDW is tapping into the inner child in me. And to me, the most wonderful thing about kids is their ability to live in the moment.

The post-Disney depression really doesn't hit me until we arrive at MCO for our return flight. Once the bags are checked, there's no running back to the MK. But I recover quickly since I begin planning the next visit when we're seated on the plane.:teeth:

I believe the best part is doing the planning, but actually being there is PRICELESS!! :thumbsup2

Have a Disney Day

Much as I love the planning for months ahead of time, it's nothing like the thrill I get when I enter the resort. My kids threatened to give me a time out because I was too fidgety in the line for check-in. :woohoo: :cheer2: :bounce:

I Agree 100%....Planning and anticipating is really the best part !!! I wouldn't really enjoy a trip that wasn't well planned and researched. I don't know how some people can travel down and spend thousands of dollars and just "go to Disney" without all the planning .I love these boards and have found out so many interesting tidbits about WDW. I can't believe it when you are in the Fastpass Line for example, and the others in the regular line are just watching you passing them with "puzzled" looks on their faces. :sad2:Wish I could be planning another trip now... :hourglass

For me the planning is the worst thing as I'm always looking for ways to get a small trip in between my big ones. This causes big problems with the original plan.

I do enjoy causing DW to go crazy with the what do you think of this.

I really enjoy the DIS every day and knowing I will be going at least every 6 months from now on.

I do think there is a little let down when I get there and realize I will have to leave in so many days and then it will be a year or two before I return. I try real hard not to think about that , but it's hard sometimes. I try to focus on all the good memories and pictures I will have when I return home and then to plan the next trip............. :goodvibes

I enjoy planning, but I also find that as we are going more, I don't need to plan everything to death. Our next trip is usually in the works before our trip even starts. Since we don't have a big extended family, we really treat going to Disney like our "going home" to visit.

Planning is OVER half of the fun! Looking through the forums, using Google Earth and now LIVE, watching old videos and pictures, that is what I enjoy.

Planning the trip can certainly be a very exciting part to the trip. I too gain many hours of enjoyment in the planning and education of a trip. The way I look at it is that I get Many many more hours of fun for no aditional cost!!

All of this preperation can certainly heighten your expectations and increase the fun of the actual trip itself.

I, too, am an overplanner. I love to plan. I have a great time while I'm actually there, but when I get home, it usually hits me pretty hard for about a week. I do it every time. I just don't know how to get over the PDD...."Post Disney Depression".

Of course we have more fun BEING at WDW but I love planning our trips. There is nothing like it!

This is me exactly!!! :goodvibes

The planning is one of my favorite parts and has been since my first trip at age 10. I was dubbed the family trip planner even back then when I would pour over anything I could get my hands on about Disney. Nothing can top actually being there though!!!

I cope by either 1. planning other people's WDW vacations or 2. reading the boards until I'm convinced that sure, I can plan another trip... we'll find the money, right? ;)

DH makes fun of me about how grumpy I am our last day at WDW. Admittedly, I do mope around the hotel room as we pack :guilty: . It's just so hard to leave it behind! Planning for next time always helps! :thumbsup2

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves the Planning Phase! Our vacations have 3 phases for me, there's the Planning Phase, the actual At-Disney-Phase and then the Scrapbook Phase! I love all three!

Oh for me its alll in the PLANNING! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ofcourse DH and the boys insist it is actually being there, so I guess we balance eachother out in the long run :rotfl:

I love to plan! I live to plan! And I also keep telling Dh about a week before we leave for our WDW vacation: Can you beleive it will all be over in a week?

I have PDD really bad and I find each time we return, it gets even harder to overcome it. Of course, these boards don't help! LOL

So here I am planning another trip, a Disney Cruise this time. DD 9 absolutely wants to sail on the Magic....who am I to argue?

This cruise is more than 6 months away but I am already planning the NEXT Disney vacation. As soon as the 2007 rates come out you can bet I will be calling to book (gotta have some motivation to save, and there's nothing quite as motivating as having a booked vacation and a ticker!).

Honestly, we leave next week for our first ever DW trip and I have to admit, I'm a little scared :rolleyes2 that it won't match up to all I've heard......scared it won't match up to the excitement, the thrill, the fun.....that it will be crowded :crowded: , over-whelming, too hot, too cold.....just not all I think, hope and planned for it to be!!! I have studied and asked questions about DW, did tons of planning, and drove my family crazy asking, "Are you excited???? Are you excited??????" Now, they are excited!!! Seven more sleeps!!! :hourglass But what if I/they don't experience the pixie dust???? :tink: Eeeeek!!
