If you work at Discovery Cove please give me some information! I am looking for summer employment and would like some pointers as far as a good position to apply for? I am thinking about being a guest hostess. Helping with arrivals and all that. I'm really not sure what it all entails. Please share! Thanks so much!

Thank you! But while this post has been up I actually have already interviewed and was offered a summer position at Discovery Cove! I start this Friday and I am very excited. I guess I can start answering people's questions on this board soon once I get more expereince there!

What role did you have in the park? What benefits did you recieve?

Well I have only gone once about 4 years ago so I'll try to remember as much as I can. One thing I would say is go early! Knowing us, I think we went about 30 mins. early and there were literally already 50+ people ahead of us checking in. It is a lovely check-in area with couches and a nice view so even if you get there super early, you can lounge, use the restrooms, and maybe even have some breakfast. So if you are super ambitious get there an hour early! As far as the actual park, it is gorgeous. You will be guided through everything and fitted with everything, don't worry they take care of you. My favorite things to do were going around in the lazy river. It was a blast to use my mask and just swim underwater. There are lots of rocks and different things to look at. My second fav. was the aviary. I interacted and fed so many birds. It was neat to see them all so close up. Of course the dolphin encounter was fun too but for some reason, I wouldn't do it again. I think once you do it once, that's enough. It was neat to get to touch and have the dolphin swim me across the water. I was pretty scared at first when I went into the area where you can swim among schools of fish, stingrays and other sealife. But I go over it and the freezing water and had a good time lookinmg at the fish. I don't go snorkeling in the Keys ever or anything so it was neat to get a glimpse of what it would be like. I also remember the food was surprizingly good. They were decent portions and had a variety of selections. I think you will have a good time, the day ends so quickly, I wish it was 2 day instead of 1! It is a blast, feel free to ask any specifics.
