Do you wear a poncho on water rides?

I have no desire to ride KRR. I know blasphemy but I have been on similar rides and I do not want to be soaked. I do wear a poncho on Splash Mountain because I am also holding on to my cameras and even though they are in a bag and protected I am going to keep that bag under the poncho for extra protection. I am also going in December and would prefer not to be cold and wet.

I wear a poncho on KRR and I have no shame. I can't recall ever having anyone laugh at me for it. As a PP said, I usually have people begging for my poncho when I get off the ride. I wear a poncho because I hate to walk around in wet clothes. BTDT, and I don't choose to repeat it. The ride is fun without getting wet.

Yep. I wear one on Splash. I do not want to walk around wet all day, i go on the ride for the attraction not for getting wet.

i went at the end of august once, and we DID want to get wet at that time it was so hot!!!!

I have no desire to get wet. That being said the only "water" ride I ride is Splash Mtn because it's a disney classic and I love the theming. I wear a ponch on this ride cause I want to ride and I don't want to get wet. I do not care if people are going to "make fun of me" as one poster said. I dont care about the opinions of others, I do however care about my own personal comfort.

Some folks just dont take to a "swamp cooler" type of appeal when it comes to walking around wet. That and the fact that most folks dont have the type of body they'd wanna show off in a wet T-Shirt!

I don't wear a Poncho on water rides. If I don't feel like getting wet, I just don't ride them.

But I've ridden them enough that it's ok if I miss them sometimes.

If you do not want to wear a poncho, then don't. If I want to wear a poncho, what's it to ya? Does it diminish your fun on the ride? Go ahead, make fun of the old grandma with the poncho on. You won't hurt my feelings.

two words rubbed raw!! love the ride but don't like being wet and walking around..We love the cat calls from the people in line..

thats exactly why we will wear ponchos come Sept. We were on the this ride early in the morning one August many moons ago. Got completly soaked--including shoes. Needless to say the blisters on the feet were alful and let not even mention the other areas where the clothes are rubbing.

Then in and out of air conditioned building --its a wonder we didnt get really sick.

Once a young guy mocked us in the Splash line for putting on ponchos, with something like "oh, no, you're afraid you might get wet??!!"

I put on my very-serious-and-earnest expression and spoke in my very-patient-trying-to-explain-it-to-a-two-year-old voice and said something like, "Oh, no, we're not afraid of getting wet. You see, these yellow things are ponchos, and they will keep us from getting wet."

He didn't say anything after that.

;)

Depends on when we go - in Feb and it's cold and I have on jeans...we either skip the ride or wear ponchos. If it's warm and I'm wearing shorts....bring it on.

I usually wear a poncho on Splash Mountain because of water cannons that soak you when you come around the front of the drop (especially since I usually ride Splash Mountain 8-15 times a day during my visits).

Just to clarify. I don't mock or make fun of people that wear ponchos. It just confuses me.

A lot of people are replying "I wear a poncho because I don't want to get wet". I understand not wanting to get wet. I don't understand why you would get on a water ride if you don't want to get wet. Is the ride really that fun without the thrill and anticipation of getting wet?

I like the twirling and the small drops on KRR. I also like the expressions on the faces of the people who DON'T wear ponchos and get drenched!;) It's always fun to try and figure out who will get dumped on!

Marsha

Maybe it would be more accurate to say I don't want my clothes to get wet. As other people have said, walking around in soaking wet clothes is no fun and it's certainly easier to carry a poncho in my backpack than a complete change of clothes. Having said that though, I've never worn a poncho on Splash Mountain, only on Kali.

Yep.

ITA with the OP. Yet...I buy ponchos as gifts when I'm there. :)

I've been to several major theme parks across the nation and ridden their water rides:
Six Flags over Georgia
Six Flags over Texas
Fiesta Texas San Antonio
Astro World - Houston
Disneyland
WDW - not including water parks.
I've never ever ridden a ride that gets you as absolutely, thoroughly soaked as Kali River Rapids does. There's not one even close. Why would you want to walk around completely drenched. That's stupid and it's a ride that needs to be fixed. I have no problem getting wet on a flume ride. 20 minutes later your dry.
