of seeing a wipeout???

Not since the death of Dale Earnhardt. Now, I hope there aren't any major incidents on the track.

No, I am bummed everytime there is a crash. I have started really appreciating the strategy when the cars are running full out.

First of all I share JasonLyons' sentiment about NASCAR...... and second how sick would someone have to be to want to see somebody crash their car?

I LOVE Nascar.
I hate seeing the crashes...always get scared someone is gonna die like Dale Earnhardt did.

Nope...I really enjoy the strategy and sport of it...crashes although inevitable are never part of the enjoyment....now nudging someone out of the way....well..that's another story...LOL......(#8 fan...)

No sport to it?

You don't think driving 500 miles going 190 mph in a 150 degree car takes some atheletic training and endurance?

If anything is not a sport it's golf and wresteling. Golf is walking with an iron (which can be doubled as a cane) and wrestling is just really bad acting with some moaning and groaning and an occasional body slam thrown in. :)

Nope, not a sport. I'd call that a little on the insane side. Definately not a sport.

you want a sport?? try driving down I-75 in high traffic with family...
golf as easy as it may seem is very difficult, not everyone has golfed, but most everyone has driven a car..

Nope...I can't complain on the kids part...lol
As for some of the other drivers... construction also & speed traps...

I actually watch NASCAR, mainly because BF loves it, but I actually enjoy it too. We've both commented that the commercials played during NASCAR races far outweigh the Super Bowl commercials these days!

I don't watch in hopes of a wipeout, and I certainly do not wish to see harm come to anyone (I watched the day that Dale Earnhardt got into his fatal accident), but I do admit that I am completely in awe of how much damage appears to be done to the cars in a wipeout and am completely amazed how most of the drivers walk away without a scratch! Even more amazing is how they fix up the cars so quickly.

No way, In the area I am from Nascar has been popular for years with so many local drivers. I finally disagree with Browneyes on something, Nascar is not only a sport but it is a sport that requires alot of training.:D

:earseek: Shep! :earseek:

No, I don't watch it at all, it puts me to sleep. Zzzzzzzz. But I too think it's a sport that requires a lot of training. I know I couldn't do it. For one thing, I'd be too scared!! :earseek: :)

OK, here is my thought. When I first started watching, it was awful to see a wreck. That was a few years back (maybe 3 or so). Fortunatley, I watch it much more now and it is a much safer sport than it was even 2 years ago. Between the HANS device, and the "soft walls", the drivers are walking away from wrecks that they would have died in a couple of years ago.

So, in conclusion, I have to admit that it is pretty exciting to see a wreck (saw one in person about 20 feet from where I was standing at a Busch race). But if it is terrible one (like the one Steve Park was in a few weeks back), no, that just brought tears to my eyes, because I really thought he would not survive that one (but he did!!:D ).

Funny you should ask this question, is it because the race is at Bristol this weekend???:smooth: Should be some pretty interesting driving.

PS Adam Petty also died before the HANS device was manditory, or even used by many drivers. That was also an espcially sad day in our house (as was when Dale E and Kenny Erwin died).
