Okay.....now I've got your attention. :teeth:

My 9 year old DS came home Friday and said one of his friends asked him this during after school care.

Some background....my son has known this girl for several years. They both attend the same school and both go to the school's before and after care.

He said she came up to him Friday and said "do you want to go behind the swing and make out?"

My son told me he told her that no he did not want to make out and never to ask him that again. (good boy)

So.......is this common among 4th graders??? :confused3

OMG I hope not! I just asked my 10 year old if she knew what "making out" was - fortunately she didn't have a clue! Wow, they just keep getting younger and younger. I wonder where your son's friend learned about that? Is there a way to bring it up with her parents? I would! :sad2:

Yes. I want to make out...any takers???? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would wonder if some older person did this with the girl. I would definitely talk to her parents.

ack! :scared1:

it does seem to be a fairly common question in middle school, though...much to my dismay!

Oh my! I would die if my 9 year old had someone say this to her. You definately should tell her parents. Either she has older siblings and has heard it from them or she's heard it somewhere else, but just think as a parent, would you want to know?

This was the exact same thing I was thinking as I was opening this thread. Damn, I was duped again by an exciting thread title.

After watching some show on tv that said what was scary to them was kids 14 and 15 talking about having sex just wasn't a big deal that everyone they knew was doing it. It surprised me to hear that. :sad2:

Common No but definitely increasing in frequency! Be ready for 6th grade....oral sex is rampant in middle school and the kids don't consider it is sex.

I thought the new saying was "Hooking Up" Oh my so young!

Did your son know what making out is? I would mention it to the after school care director. Let them deal with her parents. Making out is still JUST kissing right? You never know anymore...

Wow! That is young. My baby is only 2 years away from that!

She might not know exactly what making out means. Does she have older brothers or sisters? How well do you know her parents? Could you mention it to them? I hate to rat out kids, but this may or may not be serious. Either way I think she needs a talking to. The next child may say yes.

They have had a 5th graders here caught on the bus doing that....seems they take the back seat of the bus here and thats what they do back there...I don't think I knew what that was in 5th grade! According to the kids its not sex and doesn't count...

I know the girl's mom in a "Hi. How are you?" kind of way. My son and this girl have known each other for several years. They are in the same grade and have had the same teacher at least once. And they have gone to the same before and after care for at least 2 years.

Both DW and I do not particularly care for this girl. She seems to be somewhat of a troublemaker.

I am going to say something to her mother. She at least needs to know what her daughter is doing.

I'd say something to the parents. I think it's the teacher in me, but, I never hesitate to say anything to parents. I'm pretty up front about everything.

I would question your Son once more to find out what making out means. Ask him if there is anything you do not know before you go to the other Party. I would let the After school care handle it.

1. They will keep thier eyes open for this & talk to the mother

2. The other Mother may go Crazy with this & embarrass your son.
