Do you want to be "known" on the DIS?

I find it amusing that on a board this size, with this much activity, some posters are "known" while others are not. I will often open a thread expecting to see certain posters respond, and can often guess the tone and tenor of those responses. Based upon the "five snow days" thread and others, I think there are a good number who also know certain posters' beliefs (some may say biases).

What about you: Do you want to be known, or would you rather fly under the radar?

Meh I could care less...I post semi regularly, and I tend to post a lot on the same type of subjects for the most part...If someone "knows" me, then good for them..otherwise...I never really cared..

I enjoy the DIS and hang out here a lot but post only rarely. So I guess I'm not all that interested in being known.

I am NOT known, haha. If I am, it would probably be for the teenager that hangs out on the community board instead of the teen board.

I think I am not "known". I really don't care if I am..as long as it is not in a bad way LOL. I have a high post count but most of those come from the Idol thread and back in the wpasadi contest a few years back. I read here all the time, post once in awhile, except for Idol nights.

I try very hard not to post things that could be taken wrong. I type responses, read them back to myself so I can make sure they don't come across wrong. I do not post a lot of my responses. ;)

I think some people have a need to be noticed and make their odd jokes or their very long comments. I think some are just noticed because their personality can be so dominant they dig their heels in no matter what the discussion.

I also think alot of people are noticed because they are someone that reminds you of someone you know in real life. I know that alot of people I really recognize is because they remind me of friends or foes and some I recognize because I always think I'd enjoy hanging out with them.

Some people are noticed because you can tell they are just genuinely nice people...^^^^^

I know sometimes I will get caught up in a thread that I feel really strongly about one way or the other, but I only post on these boards because of my true passion (my kids would say obsession;)) for all things Disney. I love to plan and get such awesome tips here and hopefully in turn, share them with others.
Through that, I found there are a lot of interesting topics of conversation I like to read about. I like that people encourage others here, and offer them a little slice of kindness. My only hope that if anyone recognizes my posts, that they see I'm offering genuine kindness and caring about others.

A lot of the people I "knew" no longer post here....my posting is a lot more spotty, so I don't know that people "know" me any longer....I'm ok with that.

I think when I posted more often, it was to go for the laugh....MAN we used to have some fun threads going on on Friday and Saturday nights....right on the edge of pointsville...sometimes tipping over.

I don't have any need to be known, but I don't mind if someone knows me so long as it is not for a bad reason. So, for example, if someone notices me as that weirdo who lives in Germany but has NH in her name, or even as the girls with all the typos in her post that is fine. I HOPE people don't know me as someone mean or unreasonable or whiney, or a bad mother or whatnot.

Being "known" here is DANGEROUS...

Hmmm...do I want to be "known"? Probably not! :rotfl: Back when I first joined (almost 5 years ago now), I posted on a thread and got a rather snippy response in return (I'd say it was 50/50 deserved, lol!). From that point on, I promised myself that I WOULD NOT write responses to ANY post that could be taken differently than how they were written. There's waaay to much room for ambiguity in the Internet world, and as in IRL, I don't want anyone to think less of me because of something I "said" (and I'm a talker; I say a LOT! :lmao:).

I am not known and I am fine with that. Personally, I don't feel the need to be recognized on a message board and lately, I've been mostly lurking to read rather than post. Still love the DIS though! :goodvibes

I don't mind not being known.. but if I am known, I want to be known for being awesome!

Oh my gosh, so true. Those days were so much fun. I miss them so. Things are much different now. :guilty:

I think being 'known' though is a bit general. Being known how? Good advice, being snarky, being holier then thou, bragging, always offering support, or just being recognized because you've been around so long. There's good 'known and there's bad 'knowns'.

I do enjoy getting to "know" people on message boards. I really like the topics on here, and ,of course, I love all things Disney (and Universal). It is not a goal of mine to be known on here, but I do like to read posts by certain posters.

I remember you as the sane, rational one who always dispenses good advice!!

Feel free to send me some Gummi Bears. :rolleyes1

Oh you are so sweet  but I fear you are confusing me with Tina (she rocks!).

Nonetheless, that post does deserve some Haribos coming your way--or Kindereggs (but those are contraband now aren't they:rolleyes1:rotfl2:)

I'm "known" by some, but more so due to the length of time I've posted on the DIS rather than to anything exciting or controversial. It doesn't really matter to me that I am known. I have met some nice people through the DIS and always welcome their comments and suggestions.

Well there are plenty of DIS'ers who I "know" from a standpoint of knowing what, generally, to expect when I see that they've posted.
