Not sure why you are dragging politics into it, which is a joke and most likely flat out wrong. I just dislike flashy life of the party people, I am an introvert so that is most of the reason. Where I grew up we had both old and new money and I liked one group and not the other. I generally like down to earth people from all walks of life. My point is don't judge a book by its cover, and by the way I own an 80$ pair of sweats, so those are classy right lol;). Some of my hobbies I have had for 30 plus years have me mixing with folks from all walks of life which has been pretty cool.

I just have never understood the must dress nice outside of work and DCL suppers philosophy, I do dress nicely for suppers on DCL, meaning dress pants and collared shirts.

Also I started reading where I posted so if I caught your comments in a bad spot my bad and I apologize for that. Also apologize if response drifted into off topic land.

I don't think he/she was talking about politics, as in Democrats & Republicans.
I took it by the definition of the word. As in "social equality".

On a cruise last November on the Fantasy my sister was cruising with my family for the first time and she had a cabin about 10 rooms down the hall from me on the same floor. My husband is not a "morning person" and can live without coffee (I can't live without coffee :rotfl:, ) I got up earlier than my husband one morning, threw a robe over my pajamas, put on slipper socks and walked down the hall to my sister's room where she had ordered coffee delivery and we enjoyed coffee together for about 30 minutes before I went back to my cabin to shower and get ready for the day. It worked out perfectly. My husband got to sleep uninterrupted for longer and I got to enjoy coffee and some "sister bonding" time. I remember passing one or two people in the hallway on my way to or back from my sister's cabin but nobody looked at me weird or anything. I don't think I would feel comfortable wearing my pajamas into any of the main areas of the ship though, even the Cove Cafe. But, for going between rooms close together on the same floor, I thought it was OK to do.

February 25th, 7:40 EST. Just looked at my 14 year old daughter who is about to get into my car and go to school. Eighth grade. She is still in her pajamas. "Are you going to school in that," I asked. Her reply: "It's pajama day." Fair enough. :rotfl:

While I don't like to do it, it's just a personal thing. I would never judge anyone that does it. I've seen people on the ship doing this and it has never bothered me.

I am amazed of how many post there are already....wow!

I have seen it in the morning....early....

But....I have seen pj bottoms being worn to the grocery store etc...;)

:rotfl: I'm a teacher and I hate pajama day. We had "baby day" last week- what's the difference?!?! And my own kids have pajama day at their school today. I love your post. I can just see it.

I'm one of those with jammies that don't look like jammies so I've gone up to the spa in the morning in them before to use the Rainforest Room.

:rotfl2: My DS5 went to school in his pajamas today too with his shark slippers. It was also pajama day!! He is my pajama kid. As soon as we walks in the door from school at 3pm he puts on his pajamas even though he may have to change out of them again in an hour or so to bring one of his sisters to hockey practice. He will without a doubt be seen in his pj's onboard in April and I probably will be seen in the hallway near our room in mine. My mother and sister are traveling with us and we have 4 rooms right near each other on the same floor. I would not wear my PJ's to the drink station (I don't like soda anyway) but I will go out in the hall to my mothers room in my PJ's. I may also have my DD13 and DD12 bring a fuzzy pair of pants to wear late at night in the theater like someone else said they did. She would love to wear her zebra print PJ's and bring her zebra print blanket to cuddle up and watch a movie. Great idea!:goodvibes

Just something to think about - - when writing posts on a discussion forum!

Your words are interpretted by each person who reads them, with no facial expression or body language to be read as well.

So saying things using harsh words should never be considered acceptable when posting (and there is no way every poster will earn this, some just like to stir the pot)

In a conversation in person with people where body language and facial expression can be read saying something like "oh that is so tacky" can for sure be interpretted differently than when just reading the words.

If by "pajamas" you mean "spray tan," then yes, yes I do.

I have a 5th and 6th grader and they both still have pajama day and love it. :)

This thread has really taken an interesting turn. I have seen people mention that pajamas are better than some swimsuits on deck and honestly, this makes no sense to me. Swimsuits are meant to be worn on deck for sunbathing and swimming so this just really doesn't seem to be a valid argument. You may not enjoy the way everyone looks in their swimsuit but the pool/beach is the appropriate place for wearing it.

I do not wear my pajamas outside of my home but I, unlike others, do not care if anyone else does. You could wear them to the MDR and it wouldn't bother me in the least. I may wonder why you are dressed in your pjs but it certainly would not affect my experience in the least. Unless of course you came in lingerie and I have two tween boys that I would prefer eat their dinner instead of staring and giggling at you all evening. I would expect them to behave this way at the pool/beach if someone has on a "tiny" bikini, but not in the dining room. ;)

I have, I do, I will again wear my PJ pants/shorts and a t-shirt in public. On the ship I plan to wear them to run to the drink station, to go to a late movie, to snuggle and read in a chair on deck 4 in the middle of the night when I can't sleep and from the gym locker room to my cabin when I utilize the showers. I apologize in advance if I will offend anyone I am who I am...lol:hippie:

Sweats and workout clothes aren't appropriate in public? I guess I have no class then. Oh well at least I'm comfortable.
I'm with you. On my days off I wear sweats. I work out in them, not doing that in jeans

I don't think I'd go around in my PJs, but I did buy a beautiful Kimono in Epcot last year that I use as a robe sometimes. I might sneak to the drink station early in the AM in my kimono. :)

After reading this thread I think I might wear my pajamas when I fly to Miami in April, at least the pants. They are nets pants and I'll be seeing nets vs heat that night, either that it wear my nets shorts which I've worn to bed on vacation

I do not. However, we let my DS (1) to go to breakfast in his footie pjs. He did not get down and walk or anything. He gets up ready to eat, so it wasn't worth the fight.

Be careful with this in airports. I wore sweats once because I thought of comfort first. I ended up getting patted down because they were loose fitting. I assume the pajamas would be similar. I now wear jeans or shorts when flying, no need to give TSA another reason to bug me lol.

lol, I'll most likely wear jeans( my comfy ones) and a Nets jersey or if it's hot enough wear my nets shorts. Only time I thing I'll wear pajamas is this fall flying to Japan, not wearing jeans that flight and by pajamas I mean anything comfy, not really pajamas, do unless you saw me sleeping would never know

For air / car travel, there is only one thing... yoga pants. Yup. I've tried all the jeans etc and my feet swell TOO much. I need happy circulation with all the sitting and so comfy yoga pants, a t-shirt, a hoodie, and a jacket (because its always so stinkin cold on the plane but then half the time you are running to get to a terminal and got hot, so LOTS of layers) so yeah. They aren't too lose, for comment about TSA, and they aren't too tight if you wear them correctly, but they ARE comfy. No PJs for me at the airport. Number one concern is to be modest and then comfy and then not too sloppy. I usually put a Disney shirt on. :thumbsup2

True. But I read the post with the word tacky in it, and never thought "tacky" was on the harsh word list.
I thought he/she was giving their own personal opinion about pj's in public. Not name calling. ???
