I'm wondering how many adults actually do this. I would never walk out of my room in pajamas.

I guess it would depend on what you consider pajamas. If you wear shorts and a t-shirt as pj's that I would say no problem. People wear more revealing attire on the pool deck than what others would wear to sleep.

I've seen people change on the pool deck on some ships. Once, on Freedom of the Seas, my wife and I witnessed a young woman who would come up to the pool deck in a bikini, take a swim, strip down to her birthday suit and put on a dry bikini before she laid out to sunbathe. She did this just about everyday.

After seeing that, I kinda feel that roaming the ship in (non-revealing) pj's isn't that big of a deal.

Probably because calling someone tacky for something you do not like is judgemental!

Did I specifically call someone that? Who? I didn't direct my comment at any one person in particular. Just in general.
And again, why have a poll, if you don't want to know what people think?

Here's how it works in a grammatical sense. What I did was say that WEARING PAJAMAS IN PUBLIC is tacky.

I did NOT say that the PEOPLE WEARING THE PAJAMAS ARE TACKY.

There truly is a difference.

Maybe I should have just said "inappropriate in MY opinion".....does that make it better?

So I can't bring my Stitch Onesie and wear it? Oh darn. No just kidding it takes up to much room so not bringing it. At home I use it more on a lazy day or holiday or when I'm cold

You can wear anything you want to wear....wherever you choose to do so. Especially at home, or in your stateroom.
The poll was asking about wearing pj's around the ship.

Some people think it's fine, some don't.

Well... we can't be having tacky people on Disney Cruise Line
True, actually....isn't that what everyone here says about Carnival cruisers???

Fascinating... can you tell me where I can find this "No PJs outside your stateroom" dress code you speak of?

A wild stab would be where the cruise line asks that you dress "cruise casual".....I don't think they mean "bedroom casual".

haha with my last comment I was more joking, if I wanted to wear them around the ship I would, but since they take up room I won't be bringing it anyway.

Revealing clothing had nothing to do with the question. I'm talking about pajamas that are obviously pajamas.

About the naked woman on Freedom of the Seas, nobody said anything? I can't imagine a modest family with children would appreciate that. I remember seeing a sign (printed copy paper) on a Disney ship once that said woman must keep their bathing suit tops on. There must have been an incident to prompt the freshly printed sign.

I have yoga pants and a t shirt as PJs. I would walk around the ship in them. You would never be able to tell they were PJs - they just look like comfy clothing. I would also (and have) walked around a hotel and Walmart in them. But I wouldn't wear them to the MDRs.

However there are definitely types of nightwear I think would be inappropriate to wear outside your room no matter where you are!

And calling someone "cool" for something you like is also judgmental. Just because it's a positive judgment doesn't make it less of a judgment.

I've been known to visit the supermarket in pajamas, so a quick trip to the drink station doesn't faze me! As it has been said, I'm usually wearing much less during the cruise.

No, it's someone's opinion. And, I find it ironic that others call people, um what did they say....judgey(?) They're being 'judgey' too.

I'm surprised no one has used the word 'racist' yet.

I'll ask YOU the same thing as I did her....maybe you'll respond, since she didn't.

If there's a POLL, and someone gives their opinion on that poll....why is that judgemental? It's an OPINION. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

It gets rather old on here, seeing so many people get so worked up over one little word or phrase. :sad2::sad2:

OK, sure, I'll bite...

The premise of the poll is rather judgmental, and your response , in particular, amplified this tone.

Calling a group of people names and looking down upon them because they do not conform to your idea of "appropriate" is judgmental. Folks that prefer the comfort of PJs are not breaking any rules... they are on vacation and are trying to enjoy themselves. Be happy for them.

There are plenty of other things that people do on cruises that are legitimately disruptive and inappropriate. This discussion and the harsh terms that are being used seem pretty over the top to me.

Thank you for this response, love it on these boards when people decide that their opinion is somehow more valid than others and then applying negative comments about the other side and then they are surprised when posters fire back, state your opinion and leave if at that why start with the name calling

I think another poster nailed it that it may be generational, I'm sorry to those who have a hard time understanding but times do change, society is getting more casual, like how people used to get dressed up to fly and now it's a more casual scene, even the workplace has changed, weddings aren't always black tie affairs...

most people probably don't even buy just pjs anymore, more likely it's just comfort clothes, and for the most part sleeping in those types of clothing doesn't wrinkle them bc odds are they never were intended to be ironed and crisp anyways. So odds are in the morning that person you are walking by you would never know if they are or not in pjs so don't worry about it...

It really sounds like people are applying an arbitrary fashion rule onto others that is purely subjective bc of the design or print on the clothes...

At the end of the day no rules are broken, if done wanted to wear sweatpants or a jogging suit to the mdr or any where else they can, and that same outfit at one point or another could serve as pjs... Think if everyone wore pjs one night people here would be more understanding of nice shorts

we ended up going to a real late movie on the last night and we had our PJ's on when I was the one that said " let's go to the movie" and I I really did not wan to get out of them lol

I believe the poll was Would you wear pajamas. Not what is your opinion of people who would wear pajamas. I didn't call you judgey. I shared my opinion that passing judgement on others is way more tacky that what another person chooses to wear. I'm sorry you feel people who wear pjs is tacky. I personally don't think name calling is very nice and I don't care what other people wear and don't think other people should care either.

So nipping out for a drink early morning to take back to a room in pjs is unacceptable, yet it is perfectly acceptable for people to walk around in skimpy bikinis and swimwear out on deck all day.:confused3 if everything is covered why should it be an issue.

Just started reading this thread. And totally agree.

I wear "pjs" everywhere. It's actually no different than seat pants and a t shirt. Or for me. Tank top.

To each their own. But don't knock it til You try it.

I literally cannot count the times I've WANTED to go somewhere in pajamas, sweats, yoga pants, etc. I can never bring myself to do it for some reason. I see other people doing it, and I admire their comfort level and wish mine was the same!

I haven't slept in pajamas since I was 10. So I guess my answer is no. Most of the time I sleep in a T-shirt. If I throw on a pair of shorts in the morning and head up to deck 11 to get coffee does that count?:)

I work 12 hour shifts, so I'm used to getting up at 0530 and am often up at that time even on vacation. My traveling party doesn't have the same issue, so I would often just pull on shoes and hang out on deck until everyone else was awake. And I'm not ashamed to admit I've made many a trip to Starbucks in my jammies while on vacation. Usually it's some sort of tshirt and cotton or flannel pants. What do I care, I don't know any of these people in real life.
