Do you use a water regulator?

I was just curious, when we went to cape may it seemed like we were leaking a little from the water connection. My dad the rv god said it was probably due to a lot of pressure. So I wanted to know if we should purchase one to bring to the fort.

It depends on the pressure at each park. At disney I used one as they have great pressure/flow and I actually had an older hose blow out when connected there. Other locations I may opt out of using a regulator as the pressure is lower then the regulator and I am trying to avoid impeding flow.

Agree with above.

As a rule I keep 2 with me at all times just in case. Some campgrounds do have low pressure (not one that I have been to) and in those cases you would want to leave it off.

I agree with above posters. I use one all the time, just in case. The plumbing in my Winnebago is pex tubing which is rated very high (I believe to 200 psi), however, as stated outside hoses etc. are not. I also use a filter every time I hook up, again, just in case. I'm starting to see more and more water softeners at outside hookups and am wondering if that is in my future.

We actually have two pressure reducers on the water lines at our home. Without them, we´ve had to replace faucets all over the house as well as the inside of our commodes more than once. The high pressure is just too hard on them. I would want to ensure this doesn't happen to my camper if I were you.

This is what I do too. I use one all the time. In a popup, low pressure is not a big deal.

I use a regulator in most places but skipped it a couple of years ago at Disney. Turns out I have a leak under the shower in a fresh water connection if the pressure is too high. I learned my lesson.

New to Trailer camping at the Fort. What do you set the pressure at on the regulator? Will need to pick this up for our trip.

The ones I have are non adjustable from Wal Mart. They are set between 40 & 50 psi.

we use them everywhere we go.
:thumbsup2
definitely dont want to find out the hard way .

Always use them. Vacationed at Yellowstone National Park and pressure there was around 100 psi. Would not take the chance of busting a pipe or hose.
