Do you use a fanny pack?

I have an over the shoulder bag that isn't that stylish but I use what is easiest for me. Who cares what others there think? Those bags they weat on their backs can easily be gotten into by someone else. I was told by a cast member that wallets have been stolen. Use what keeps your belongings safest.

I definitely use a fanny pack at a theme park,everything you need is right there in front of you and safe.For me the safety of not losing anything and being comfortable and hands free is why I don't care if it looks funny.

I'm so busy having fun I never notice what bags anyone else has. And I don't care if anyone thinks my waist pack makes me look like a dork.

I'm going on vacation where the big attraction is a six foot cartoon mouse, and a duck that doesn't wear pants, I'm not worried if someone thinks the fanny pack makes me look silly

I've been thinking of getting a kids fannypack for 6 yr old grandson- so he can carry his own autograph book and pen, and perhaps a few Disney dollars so he feels important
Anyone had any experience with how kids handle them? Do they hate them or love them? Do you buy a child's one or will adult size work?

My grandkids had their own waist packs in the parks and didn't mind at all. They carried their own cameras, ponchos. autogragh books etc.

Does anyone use a fanny pack that has a water bottle?
I'm wondering if it would get in the way or not. We will be there in July and we are Not used to the heat.

We have insulated water bottle holders that have a shoulder strap with plastic refillable bottles. We fill them with ice water before we leave the resort each day. Got them at a small souvenier shop outside disney.

My DH prefers to carry the backpack but I need something easier and lighter....even if I look dorky I was thinking of using a fanny pack!

I know the Vera Bradley bags are great but I don't want to spend quite that much money on a bag. I'm wanting something less than $10!

So, what do you think? Should I risk the fashion "statement"???

I use one of those nylon backpacks that you pull the straps to close. It holds all my stuff and is light. I have one from my university that was under 10 dollars but I now sport stores like Dicks sell them too.

We are going for the first time in Jan '10 and I plan on taking my hiking fanny pack. Has 3 pockets and is waterproof. Best of all it has 2 built in water bottles for keeping my hands free from carrying a water bottle. I have back problems so a backpack for hours is not an option. DH refuses to wear one so that leaves me. I look at it this way. I am from IL and will never see these people again in my life LOL so what do I care if they think I am a dork?

Comfort, ease of use, and holding all my stuff is all that matters to me. I think you should use what you like and are comfortable with above all else.

I will probably use a fanny pack in May, in addition to whatever shoulder bag (not purse) I have. Most likely because then I can keep my more important items in it, close to me.


Did you get your hiking fanny pack at Scheels or another similiar store?

I went with a small fanny pack, to keep glow sticks in, than when the ride got dark I could get to thim quickly to hand to the 2 and 3 yr. old so they didnt get scared. I could not think of any other way to carry thim and not have thim bend and activate and be able to get to quickly

I love this board. I have been saying for years that I think fanny packs should come back and I actually saw in Glamour magazine ( I think it was last month) that fanny packs were on designer runways. I thought that was too funny. I think I will be getting one for next time we go.

Yes, I wear a fanny pack. On our first trip in 2007, I knew DD11 wouldn't keep up with anything and I'd end up holding all the "little stuff" we needed: chapstick, wet ones, camera, etc. So I searched around on Ebay and found one that a Disney-goer was selling that he used in the parks frequently. We decided to try the pin trading and it has a pocket in the front for pins and a fairly roomy middle with pockets on the side for cell, water, etc. There's even a zipper compartment on the inside that I kept my small stash of cash inside. I loved it for convenience, but yes it does look dorky. I tried to remember to take it off for pictures but didn't always. I don't like backpacks b/c my shoulders and back usually hurt after carrying one for a while. Also, if I got a backpack, I was worried I'd end up just carrying that much more stuff. So my fanny pack isn't too small and not too big and I can fit all the necessary items, including trading pins, in there when needed. We went two summers in a row and now dying to go back. Will probably be 2010 before we make it back however.

i don't use a fanny pack. my mil likes to have coordinating ones for every outfit when she travels - enough said.

i bring a pack mule with me everywhere i go though. his name is Dave and we've been married 9 years!

I couldn't do WDW without my fanny pack! I've got severe Fibromyalgia and I can't carry anything or hang anything on my shoulder for any long period of time. I do use a purse for day to day running but I have to actually take rests and put it down if I'm out for a long day (pitiful, I know, LOL).

I dont use a fanny pack or a back pack in the parks. Neither does DW. She carries a small purse. I carry everything I need in my pockets. I would hate to be burdened with a lot of stuff. I have never needed anything in the parks that I didnt bring in my pockets that I couldnt buy (wallet with money & CCs is one of the essentials in the pockets).

I use a Buxton bag and love it. Keep tickets right in the front pocket so they are at my finger tips and maps, etc. inside. I only use a NYLON fanny pack when going to water parks since I don't want to leave my wallet laying around anywhere and we're always swimming or on tubes or whatever.

In the parks, I use the little over-the-shoulder wallet/digital camera/cell phone case. It's PERFECT!! It's not very much over what you're looking to spend. Check it out. It has a very long strap and goes over the shoulder which means you're VERY easy on and off rides, not slipping off your shoulder, etc.

I do use a "fanny pack" or, as we call them in Argentina "riñonera".

I'll tell you my experience in this trip with bags. It was my firts trip to WDW and I didn't know what to expect.

1st two days, I used my backpack just to put my camera (I have a dslr). At the 3rd day (Animal Kingdom) I started to get tired of having the backpack on and the camera hunging from my neck and I realized that I didn't put the camera back in the backpack, so I rented a locker, I put the backpack and the jacket (it was getting warmer) and I only carried my funny pack with money, id, cellphone and my camera hunging from my shoulder. I was moooore confortable in this way and i felt the camera waaay lighter. Yesterday and today I did the same and it was great. I use a small funny pack and always stays at one side (left) instead at the front.

Honestly, when you are at Disney - no one really cares what you are wearing. The fanny packs are the last thing people are looking at when you are blinded by everyone who is dressed in bright colors so that they don't lose each other.

When you get on a ride, all you have to do is move your fanny pack to the side and that's it. You're done. No removing backpacks, no putting things into separate compartments, or worrying about leaving your bag on a ride or on a table. It also means at the end of hte day when you are completely exhausted and are heading back to the park - you aren't hunched over because you have to carry something on your back.

It is the easiest way to do Disney and if you are like me and my boyfriend, you are way more concerned about getting to do everything you want in one day, rather than guarding your stuff. It is also great because fanny packs usually come with lots of pockets. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on one though unless you are a frequent Disney traveler and know that you will use it for a long time. Ask around to friends and family. Most people have one or two tucked away from the phase when everyone was wearing them.

If you don't get one with pockets to put things in - BRING ZIPLOC BAGS
I cannot stress that enough. We live off of those things. Not only does it waterproof absolutely everything inside the bag, but it organizes it all so that you always know that you have everything. It also prevents getting suntan lotion onto your camera... oops.

Anyway, it was the easiest part of our trip. I highly reccomend it.
